DVC Research Study Opportunity

Did anyone else receive an email about participation?
I received a Membership recap but that is all.

I think the item you received is because you recently checked out?

Dear Member,

Disney Vacation Club, in partnership with Stone Mantel, an experience strategy research company, is excited to offer the opportunity for a select group of Members to participate in a research study related to their Disney Vacation Club Member Experience. This is a three-part study that would include:

2. A 30-minute homework assignment to be completed before the next Zoom session
3. The final 75-minute group Zoom session on Thursday, January 16th, at 3:30 PM ET

You must be able to commit to and complete all 3 parts in order to become a participant and get fully compensated. Participants who are selected will receive a $300 Visa gift card for completing the entire study. If you are interested in participating, please use the following link to answer some pre-screening questions. Please note that not all Members who complete the pre-screening will be selected for this opportunity.

Interesting - I’m 99% sure I wouldn’t pass the screening based on my occupation but if the time works for you, I would totally do it. DVC might be the ONLY topic when I’d willingly volunteer to participate in a focus group!

So I opted to see what my study was about - wasn’t a focus group (or compensated) - just a survey asking about my experience booking Lightning Lanes in advance.

I got it, started to fill it out and felt like it was asking too many identifiable questions without any promise of not selling our data. I backed out at that point.

I've been working to remove my data from sites as it's just far too easy for anyone out there to see who we are, who we're related to, etc. My family's privacy and my time is worth far more than the possibly promised $300 gift card IF chosen and IF I do everything they want.

Remember, nothing is given for free - they're asking for more than just our time.

I received one of those links about 3-4 months ago. I did the initial survey. I then got a phone call to ‘explain’ the process and make sure I was still interested ‘if selected’. I then spent 90 minutes answering’a few follow up questions’ that were not few. Then after an hour and a half was told that they next had to make sure that they still were ok’d to go ahead with this research from the marketing heads and if so I would get an email for the group chat but if I didn’t get an email it was probably because they weren’t able to get the go ahead for the next step, which would have meant a payout of a gift card. Of course I never got an email. I wonder if anyone had after they got a long survey and 90 minutes of phone data for free.

I also got an email to participate in an upcoming focus group for a $100 gift card. No idea if I will be selected.

I got this too yesterday. They wanted to know the following in the pre-screening questions:

On a scale from 1 to 5 with 5 being the highest, rate your comfort in sharing your location, personal, biometric, relationship, and device data with companies to help you meet your personal goals, simplify, individualize experiences for you or anticipate your needs.

Since I'm not comfortable at all with this, I figured they wouldn't select me. So I didn't continue.

I got this email too. I (probably stupidly) clicked the link to the questionairre which was powered by SurveyMonkey. It started out seemingly legit, but then asked me to describe something that happened to me this year which made me proud:confused3. As it went further, I noticed several spelling and grammatical errors, and then the kicker was when it asked me to select where my home resort is and the two choices were Disney World or Disneyland. No mention of Aulani, HHI or VB. I backed out at that point. I also wondered why the initial email was addressed "Dear Member". I would think a legit email would address me by name.

I sent an email to DVC and told them about this email and questioned its legitimacy. I will advise if I hear back.

A legitimate email from DVC has this address....disneyvacationclub@email.dvcmember.com
This "survey" email came from this address... members@disneyvacationclub.com

Perhaps it is legit, but there are definitely some "red flags".

I did not receive anything like this, it looks interesting though.
