DVC resale

Has anyone sold any of their DVC points? Did you use a broker and/or did Disney buy them back? (I know they have first right of refusal) And, how painful was the process?

Any inside info/tips are appreciated - thinking of selling a portion of ours. Thanks!!

You can not sell a portion. You can only sell an entire contract.

If you have 1 200 point contract, you can not sell 50 points. You must sell all 200. (Which is why when buying direct one should consider the notion of multiple smaller contracts).

Disney does not buy them back unless they exercise the right of first refusal.

I have not sold, but imagine the only painful part is paying the commission. More painful for they buyer and the ROFR wait. Seller does not care if Dis exercises ROFR or not, they get their money either way.

Of course, you have to find a buyer...I suppose it can be painful if multiple buyers back out.

But when using a broker, you are paying them to deal with that.

We would be selling an entire contract. We have 2 contracts so, by a portion, I meant one of our contracts which is a portion of our points. Sorry for the confusion.

I've sold some, used a broker and DVC did not exercise ROFR, not that it would have mattered to me as a seller. It takes a little time but nothing should be painful about it. Well, I actually had one flaky buyer but that's an abnormality. Actually, 2 flaky buyers now that I think about it. Had one verbal agreement and then they decided not to sign the paperwork. Then the next one who signed was a drama. But, as I said that is fairly unusual.

That's good to hear. Do you mind me asking which broker you used? I don't know how to go about finding a reputable one. Thanks!
