DVC RENTING ??

I AM SO SORRY I ALSO POSTED THIS IN THE RENTING/TRADING GROUP BY ACCIDENT

So since DH kinda shot down the idea of being dvc owners, till all our bills are paid off, which looks like will be never

i was pondering the idea of renting points....
but I have a few questions.....
#1 what is the BEST RELIABLE NON SCAMMING SITE??
#2 Do I still get the magic bands and luggage tags?

hmmm i thought i had more questions then that, but now i lost focus.....
any help on renting points would be appreciated.

2. Yes, you will get Magic Bands and you will be able to use Magical Express (and get the yellow ME tags).

One of the biggest pieces is to understand all of the terms and conditions with the owner you are securing the rental. Remember, DVC rentals are a private transaction between you and the owner. They own the reservation and are in complete control of it. Most have very restrictive change and/or cancel policies so beware of all of it. The benefit of renting is the cost savings, but there are things you have to give up for it. Not everyone is comfortable. The problems that people report are few and far between, but just be aware of what you are and are not getting before signing on the dotted line and handing over your money! Good luck!

With a rental:
No daily housekeeping
You don't own the reservation, the owner does (this means DME reservations and room requests must be made via the owner)
Many owners don't allow changes or cancellations once the reservation is made
No free dining with rented DVC reservations
If you want to add the dining plan, it must be paid in full at the time it's added to the reservation

The housekeeping schedule for stays of 4-7 nights is that you will receive trash and towel service on day 4. Your day of check in is counted as the first day. Trash and towel service will be a replacing of towels and other items such as shampoo, soap and coffee and removal of trash. If your stay is at least 8 nights then you would receive a full cleaning on the 4th day and trash and towel service on day 8.

And there are always pay as you go services if the standard housekeeping schedule is not enough. What we have found is that it's often a toss up for whether we'll even have the trash and towel done if we're on the schedule so have never even considered adding services. Each resort has trash rooms so you can take that to them daily or however frequently you find you need to clear the bins.

Maybe you can get DH to compromise? If you were to buy a small contract at say, SSR or VB, that gets you in the DVC door, and then once a year you can transfer in points and control your reservation.

In the meantime, your DH can get bit by the DVC bug.

For example, and it might take you awhile to find one, but you could buy a 50 point SSR or VB contract for under five grand and well under $50/month in MFs.
