Forgive me if this is already in place, but I haven't seen it.

Is it possible to start some sort of thread where people can list members they have successfully rented DVC points from after returning from their vacation?

You know, so each time a "transaction" is completed (ie. the renter returns from their stay) a credit goes to the person who rented the points. Kind of like feedback on ebay.

I have recently rented points for the first time, and on my return I would like to acknowledge my renter, therefore encouraging others to use them. :)

Based on some of the threads I've seen in the past, I think that could get very nasty. I suspect the volunteer moderators have their hands full already arbitrating the disputes that occur naturally, without inviting disputes of that nature. :confused3

Fair enough, I can see that this could happen. Just thought it would be nice for them to recognised.
We need a "positive remarks only thread" Quote Thumper: If you can't say somethin' nice, don't nothin' at all :lmao:

Yup, a positive comments only thread wouldn't get out of hand, but I suspect that some folks wouldn't find it of much use.

Also true! :lmao: Back to the drawing board......

Keep in mind that some of the more "controversial" owners who rent points are in the habit of creating sock-puppet screen names to agree with themselves in debates. You would have to be careful judging the validity of any posts in such a thread.

That's an interesting point. I always wondered about how folks get started selling on eBay, given that folks concern themselves so much with feedback. I could imagine that some would just set up a bunch of users, and sell their first few items to themselves. The cost of the fees to eBay might be pretty minimal as compared to the additional money you could expect from your (first real) sale, if you started out with a few instances of positive feedback.

To start with on Ebay, I just bought items and got good feedback. When I started to sell(get rid of some vintage jewelry, shoes, clothing), I had no problem, was prompt in replying to emails and sending stuff out. I just treated my customers the way I would like to be treated and was treated by the people I bought from.

The only slow problem I had on Ebay was buying from one of those franchise "sell it on ebay" stores. Everything was fine, but customer service stunk.

To get back OT, we had a renter on the DME back to the airport. Don't think you would want him on this board. We were at SSR and everyone was looking at him like "you must have stayed at a different resort".

The best thing to do is offer to the owner that you'd be happy to give a reference in the future should anyone ask for one.

A decision was made several years ago not to have any type of feedback (EG ebay type system) for the DIS R/T board. There is no way the DIS could ever verify anything posted, and as others have mentioned, there are ways to manipulate feedback ratings.

There are also some legal issues to sponsoring such a feedback system.

For similar reasons, we cannot allow any individual thread to be started by someone, intending to serve the same purpose. For one thing, it would be difficult to give negative feedback without violating site guidelines concerning 'personal attacks'.

This is a good idea, thanks!
