Can someone explain to me, if you’ve used DVC Rental affiliated with this page -
I understand you out in a request for your dates, I assume they check availability, they ask for a small deposit, and continue to check!? They said they “reach out to members”. Where do they get these members and how long does it take normally? I am unsure if I should continue booking our vacation accordingly in case I don’t get the dates I need.
I’m so confused haha.
I thought if they dates shown they would have them but assumed wrong, I guess, as they aren’t “confirmed” reservations.
I’m impatient lol and worried I mighT bit get the dates I need.
Anyone have experience with this ?

My understandinfg is that DVC Members that want to rent points contact the DVC Rentals. That website makes a note of the number of ooiint and their home resort, in case someone wants that resort during the 11/7 home resort priority booking window (at 7 months, points are points good at any DVC Resort)

The look at availability, point status, and so forth. If they find match, they cintact the member and have them make the reservation for you. Basically they are a middle man saving the owners time by pre-checking availability and matching them to a renter, and handling the finacial side of the transaction. This gives a bit of security to both the renter and the owner. But this comes at a price for the owner, as they generally can get more money by renting themselves, even though it takes more time.

Remember that DVC Availability is seperate from Disney Cash Rentals, if you see a desired room available for cash through DIsney, it still may not be open to DVC Members booking with points.

Ok. Thanks.
Never used this process before and don’t want to wait and then can’t go on vacation as the reservation never happens. Make sense?

Yes, it makes perfect sense, especially if it is for a busy booking period or a short notice trip.

If I am a DVC member and I have points that I won't use for myself, I have several options with the DVC Rental Store:

1) I can call DVC Rental store or go to its website and inform them of the points I want to rent out. They will let me know if someone wants a reservation which would work with my points.

2) I can go to their website and log in. I can click on CLAIM OPEN LISTINGS. That shows the listings that people have requested. Each listing shows the resort, dates, number of points required, how much I will be paid per point, etc. If I see one on the list and I want to use my points to book that reservation for someone, I can click on it and start the process.

3) If I already made a reservation and I don't want to use it, I can ask them to show it as a confirmed reservation. I might have done that because I thought I was going to take a vacation, and then my plans changed. Or I might have known that I wasn't going to use my points for myself, and I decided to make a reservation which I think someone might want. You can go into the GUEST section of their website and click on BROWSE CONFIRMED RESERVATIONS. You can see if there happens to be a reservation which matches the resort, date, and type of room you want.

Oh, nice!! very interesting, I'm a DVC member too and I'm impatient I guess LOL
I want to see and secure what I want when I want ;)
This waiting is agony :) I get it though - I just want to make sure I get something, because if I dont, then my vacation gets all screwed up and I need to hurry and find something else... I wouldn't mind normally, but this is a 21st birthday surprise for my daughter ..... if I dont have anything, I wont know what to do --- and to end up scrambling last minute will infuriate me LOL :D :D :D It just doesnt seem like a guarantee too me.. unsure why they dont answer the phone either or emails take 24 hours ;)

If you’re a DVC member, consider getting transferred points from another member. Then you’d be able to make the reservation yourself and control it throughout. You could go to the Rent/Transfer board here on DISboards, find someone whose screen name you recognize who has points that would work for the reservation you want, and contact them for a transfer.

I did actually. Some aren’t transferring anymore or can’t, one per person I guess.
I tried and most want to buy and do the reservations themselves.

If it were me, I would make a refundable reservation at a hotel in case the DVC rental didn't work out.
