hello!
looking into putting into putting in DVC Reservation request..
has anyone done this before and what has been your experience.

We are travelling late August.. and considering a studio unit at Bay Lake Tower IF its available.

any idea on the likely hood of us getting it using the reservation request....

any pro/con's?

for us, we like the proximity to magic kingdom and it still has the microwave and mini fridge which we like to have in our room.

right now the price (again if we are able to get it) is the same our AOA reservation so we are ready to switch

Inside of 7 months, you will find that availability may be an issue. If a studio is available, it is going to be a Lake View studio. You have almost no hope of a Standard or LV inside of 7 months.

In general, DVC rental works best for availability if you can book before 7 months out.

A BLT studio will sleep 4 on 1 queen bed and 1 double sleeper sofa. With the sofa pulled out, there will be very limited space to move. You will not get daily mousekeeping, coffee, towels or toiletries. Your booking will be final and cannot be changed or canceled once booked, as this is a timeshare and subject to certain rules. As a renter, you will not have access to Top of the World Lounge or other member perks.

A BLT studio is tiny compared to an AOA family suite, and given that you mention the microwave I'm assuming you're comparing a family suite. It is also strict on sleeping only 4 (plus a child under 3 in a pack and play, if you can find space for it).

Anything is possible in terms of availability. People have been successfully renting for years now. As long as you understand the terms of your contract with the rental company and what it means to stay on points (no daily mousekeeping for example) no real downsides if the cost is the same.

As @_auroraborealis_ mentioned, the size difference will be striking, but the location may make up for that.

You'll get one set of towels. They will not be replaced daily. For a trip of 7 days or less, you'll get trash and towel service on day 4.

DVC is a timeshare, so there's a pay-as-you-go housekeeping system. Here's how housekeeping works for points stays at DVC resorts.

For stays of 7 nights or fewer, housekeeping will come in and remove trash and replace towels on day 4. Trash & towel service also includes replacement of bath amenities (soap, shampoo, etc), facial and bath tissue, paper towels, and sugar, creamer and sweetener.

For stays of 8 or more nights, a full cleaning is done on day 4, and trash & towel service is provided on day 8.

Additional housekeeping services can be purchased for a fee. For example, a full cleaning of a studio is $30, a trash & towel visit is $15. A package of fresh towels for the unit costs $6. See the DVC Member website for more services and pricing.

thank you Quellman.. I like how you put it.. " the size difference may be striking".. yea.. I'm thinking about that.. we stayed in the Cars family suite before. DH, DD (3) and DS (5) while we won't be in the room much.. it would be nice to spread out just a tad...

then don't go with BLT - now I happen to love it - as a single - that say your kids are small enough to do it. they have plenty of room outside to enjoy.
