Hi All~
I am new to the group, and DBF and I, along with my 12 yo son, are looking to visit WDW late June into the first full week of July and because we are in the thinking process of becoming DVC Members, thought it may be a great idea to rent points for a studio during that time, hoping that it will help us to decide if it is right for us. Mouse For Less is an on-line group that I am a member of and someone mentioned that I should put a post out there on your group to see if I can get any bites on the week in question, and info and opinions on the DVC in general. I look forward to hearing it all so please don't be shy!!

You should be able to rent for $10-12 per point, maybe less if someone is really in a jam with expiring points.

To rent, I would first suggest that you go to the Rent/Trade board and read both the FAQ and "A Word to the Wise."

Second step - figure out specifically what dates you want, which resort, and what size accommodations. Click on the DVC Point Charts at the top of this page and calculate the number of points you need.

Third step - post your "I want to rent" ad on the Rent/Trade Board with as much detail as you can (dates, resort, accommodations, etc.)

Once you agree with a renter, they will have to call member services and check availability for you. They will make the reservation in your name, and they should send you both a copy of the confirmation and a number you can call to verify the reservation directly with member services.

Be sure you have a clear understanding with the renter about modifications or cancellations. Those can kill a renter, and you are renting almost last-minute, so that makes it potentially worse. You will be taking most of the risk -- just like you would if you booked a ski trip or a trip to Hawaii.

the weekend renting points - is very, very expensive - OKW is 11 points per night (sun-thurs) but the weekend (Fri/Sat) is 27 points per night.

the others (BCV, BWV, VWL, SSR) are even more expensive.
