DVC questions..someone direct me?

I am somewhat new to the boards, and I am quite impressed by everyones knowledge heour opinion, Id appreciate it.re, I hoping to tap into some of that now as my wife and I entertain the idea of the DVC. I returned home from Disney, my favorite vacation spot by far, today January 14. In 5 years we have travelled there 5 times. We want to join the DVC, but don't know the best way to do it, whether it be direct from disney, or through resale. We also dont know the different levels that can be bought, but We think we need about 250 points a year. We didnt get a chance to go to the open house, although we wanted to to get the book. is that something we need to do before buying? If you could direct me to similar boards who have asked these questions, or help me by telling me your opinion, id appreciate it!

You will love DVC! We bought in Aug at SSR. I got the discount and you can too until Feb 1. Let me know if you need a referral.

I also bought 250 form Disney. We financed and put the downpayment on our Disney Visa for the 0% for 6 mos. Our payments are about 240.00 a month but we should have it paid off before too long.

I thought about resale because the Timeshare Store is so great, but we went with easy and since the points worked out to 83.50 each and we got the 05 points in total, I thought it was probably the best situation.

If you want other than SSR resale is probably best, but we wanted SSR and the extra years. Booking at other resorts has not been a problem yet but we typically go at the non-peak times. Either way you will be thrilled.

The only way to buy for the DVC resort other than SSR is via resale. There are several resale companies you can go through if you want to go the resale route. We just bought 100 points at BWV with a Feb. use year. For what we want to do this should be enough points though we may add 25 points in the future.

You can request material to be sent to you and look it over. Right now there is 15% off SSR if you buy directly through Disney. The points will be 83.30 a point with a minimum of 150 points to purchase. SSR will get you a 48 year contract that will expire in 2054.

The other resorts expire in 2042. You will most likely have to buy these through resale. Disney will tell you they are sold out resorts but there has been some success in buying these directly through Disney if you are insistant that you don't want SSR.


There is nothing special you have to do before buying, you can buy right over the phone, they will fed ex you documents and such.

They are having a friends and family incentive right now.If you are referred by a member then you would recieve a 15% discount on your SSR purchase.Itis the only one offering this.That brings it to about 83.00 PP.It is an Awesome deal.

SSR has an advantage of longer ownership.
But if you are wanting somewhere else then you could look resale would probably be best.
