Hi All,

I have noticed several people mention Disney's Vacation Club and "points". What are the advantages of belonging to DVC, are you happy/not happy you did it and why, what is the cost (initial and annual), lifetime or deeded, et al?

Thanks for the info.
Renee

You'll probably get a more detailed answer to this if it's posted on the DVC discussion boards, but the short answer is this:

DVC is a non-permanant timeshare that you can buy for a certain amount per point (last I looked it was $72, but somebody correct me if I'm wrong) with a minimum of 150 points. The current sales from Disney are for Saratoga Springs ownership and they last for 50 years, resales will be for Old Key West, Boardwalk, Villas at Wilderness Lodge, and Beach Club Villas and they all time out in 2042. Annual dues run in the $4.35/point range (at least mine do for Boardwalk). These points can be used for DVC Properties, Disney Hotels, the Cruise line, and other timeshares and hotels around the world.

Hope this brief overview helps.

Renee,
You can indeed find good information on the DVC discussion boards. The points charts are also listed there. 150 points is the minimum direct purchase from DVD, but you can buy a lessor point contract via resale. The bad news is, points from DVD are now $95/pp. To your question about satisfaction, we're very glad we own, just wish we would have bought sooner.
