Hello!

We are considering buying into DVC....and am looking for some expert advice. WE live in Seattle, so a DisneyWorld trip can probably only happen once every other year or so......are there any other west coasters who have purchased and found it to work well(ie, not tons of wasted points etc)......any body ever figure out how often the home resort must be used to make it worth the expenditure. Anybody think that it woudl be bettter for an every other year user to just "rent" points from someone instead? Any body ever traded for a western ressort like Aviara or anything else? Lots of questions, i know. thanks so much for your help!

I don't live on the west coast, but I can tell you that if you plan to use DVC once every other year, or once every three years, you shouldn't have tons of wasted points. You shouldn't have any if you plan properly. You can bank points into the next use year, and you can borrow points from the future year into the current use year.

You don't have to use your home resort to make it worth the expenditure, you can use any DVC resort and I think most members will agree, you should see your break even point in 6 or 7 years, no matter how often you make the trip down, provided you are not letting your points go by not properly banking them. After that you will be using accomodations at approximately 50-60% discounts off of the rack rates, for the next 40 years, since you will still be paying the maintenence fees. All contracts right now end in the year 2042.

You could just rent points from another member if you're not that interested in ownership, or if you just want to try it out.

Good luck!
