Dvc Price Increase Rumor

I heard this at DVC kihosk at WDW, on two different occasions
I want to stress this is not fact, just asking

DVC Will raise the price of DVC with 37 years left, purchased retail thru DVC
for
BCV
BWV
FWL

to $94 per point

and
leave
OKW
VB
HH
alone at $89 per point

Wonder how that will affect ROFR for the first 3? I can't see paying $94 when you could get it for $70-$75 resale even with closing costs. Will it push ROFR into the high 70's? I wonder why they left OKW at $89? Harder to sell?

I do know the answer to your last ?

my dvc guide
told me
BCV no where to be found

i think he told me 5000 OKW points available thru DVC retail guides

I cannot verify this rumor
but for sake of discussion if it is true

IMHO I believe that BCV resale prices will increase, because of this DVC REtail price increase

I don't doubt that they may raise the price but I'd be surprised if they split the pricing structure. They have always charged the "same" price for the resorts with the original end date. I almost think there may be some legal or contractual reason for selling it that way. They can sort of "fudge" the prices by offering a better incentive for purchasing one over the other

I agree Pam. BCV has always had high demand and VB they had to offer larger incentives to sell out. If the guides have VB or BCV to offer, currently they cant offer Magical Beginnings to help sell VB because they don't want to discount BCV. If they change the pricing structure, that gives them more latitude to apply the discounts where needed.

can DVC do this legally?

could they sell all DVC Resorts with 37 years left for $94 per point

and then only offer say some incentive to only the DVC Resorts
that sell less strong like OKW, HH&BV
like 2 Free annual these park passes

and not offer this same incentive to the DVC Reosrts
that sell quickly-BCV,BWV+FWL

It's supply and demand. The free market.

Disney pins all start out about the same price. Some go for less on ebay. And some sell for lots more. Is it legal?

They have a history already of doing this. For a long time they had a $15.00 magical beginnings at VB when the other resorts were only $10.00. They could set it up any way they wanted. Didn't they have extra at HHI at one time too?

This figures!! I was on the waitlist for VWL when the price increase went into effect, and no one got "grandfathered" in. Now, we are on the waitlist for BCV...I'm sure there will be no "grandfathers" in this one as well (otherwise, how could they afford to buy them back). But, this is just insanity!!!

I guess I'll just wait for that "Rebeca, do you still want to stay on the waitlist at $94.00 per point" phone call. What a bad deja vu moment!!

I'm right there with you Beca. I don't think I will stay on the waitlist if the price increases. I think I will just scout a resale. (I really don't need anymore points anyway)

Does anyone know if there if points come available that often at the sold out resorts? I've never gotten on a waitlist, but wouldn't mind buying more HH points. I didn't think there would be a good chance to get them from Disney.

I'm willing to bet that you could get those pretty easily from Disney!! Give them a call...you might be VERY pleasantly surprised!!

We were able to get our HH add on immediately in late October. Of course, I will note that our use year (June) was I believe the last one to sell out at HH.

What timing.......

Last Tuesday I called my CM, gave a deposit, and was put on the waitlist for an add-on @ the BC.

He told me ...no problem it would probably take about 2 or 3 months.
I was very surprised at the short wait time. :scared1:

He then commented that this time of year, when the reality of dues and holiday bills set in, some people who have over-extended their budgets..sell their DVC's.

We'll see!!

Hmm...We got on the waitlist in early Dec, and my guide told me to be prepared for a MINIMUM 8-12 month wait...and I listed on FIVE different UY's (something dh would NOT be happy about if he knew)!!!!

I hope your guide is right, and mine is wrong...but, my luck never seems to work that way.

I tend to feel good when hearing about price increases and know I purchased at about 2/3s of that amount and have already had vacations. Seems like it is getting too expensive. But, not my call, buyer's choice. People can only make the decision for themselves.

The pricing will start to level off when demand starts to level off. Unfortunately (or fortunately if you have all the points and all the locations you will ever need and/or want), it doesn't look like that will be anytime soon.....
