We want to book the 7 night Cruise using both DVC points & cash to pay for the cruise.
Can anyone tell me the best / cheapest place to book the room w/money.
I was thinking I would get 2 small rooms instead of the family suite.
There are 5 of us. kids are 10,7,5 yrs old.
This will be our 1st family cruise.
I've seen a web site that discounts the prices .
Any info that you can share that would be helpful, I would really appreciate.

I booked with DVC points and only paid for DD 11. We got 2 rooms. Cat 6 and Cat 11 across the hall. Kids are DS 15, DS 13, and DD 11. The only thing is that with 2 room you have to pay for 4 adults. Also you have to say that 1 adult over 18/21 not sure which, will be staying in each room.

Hope that answers some of your questions. I'm sure there are others that will have more to tell you.

These people know alot.::yes::

Good Luck!!

I was under the impression that you must book directly with DVC for the entire reservation in order to do a points + cash combo. That's what we did on our first cruise. The only other way I could imagine this would work is to book one room with DVC and the other with a travel agent. In my opinion Costco is the cheapest over all but you must be a member to book. You could then go back to DCL and have them link the two rooms together for dining, etc.

We have done two cruises - Eastern and Western.

First cruise - reservation through DVC - two cat. 11 staterooms - regardless of ages, first two in each cabin pay adult price/points. You must list one person in each cabin as an adult over 18. We had myself and my middle son in one cabin and my husband, older son and daughter in second cabin. Once you are there - my sons stayed in one cabin and myself, husband and daughter in another - we did change the lifejackets around and put them back when it was over. The cabins were right next to each other. We paid all four "adults" with points and my dauther with cash.

Second cruise - reserved through DVC - two cat. staterooms. We paid first adult in each cabin with points and second adults with cash. My daughter we paid with points too. ( I asked at port for if there was an upgrade available, cabin with verandah near our cabin and we paid for an upgrade).

Third cruise coming up in '05.

One stateroom booked with DCL - for two adults cash. Cat. 8

Second stateroom booked with DVC - cat. 11 - right across - two adults and one child with points.

Depending on how many points you have or want to use, you can work this out in different ways.
