DVC Points/cash combo ressie for adjoining villas?

Has anyone gone "home" using your DVC points but also paid cash for an adjoining room? Do think this would be feasible?

We want to go "home" to BCV next August - we would stay in a 1BR(using our DVC points) and would also like our friends to join us in an adjoining studio but I am a bit leery about renting/xferring points. Do you think it would be possible to just make my ressie w/ my DVC points and then make a cash ressie for the adjoining studio? Has anyone ever done this?

If you request and one bedroom on points and a studio on cash, there is no guarantee that they will connect. They may be in different locations.

You could use your points to make a reservation for a two bedroom villa for as many days as you have points and then try to get a member cash discount for the other days. Or get them through CRO and tell both CRO and MS the opposite reservation number. You'd have to check out and check back in, but hopefully, you wouldn't have to move to a different villa.

Every time I have tried to make a cash reservation through MS, I was told that I, as the member, had to be staying in the room that I booked on cash. Lately, others have been told differently. Not sure about this anymore.

Thanks for the advice! I've never made a cash ressie thru MS before! I guess I'll have to start looking for points to xfer.

We did this years ago (before we ever heard about renting points) for my DF and DSM to join us. It cost them quite a bit more than renting would have!! I felt so bad after I found this site.

Try renting or transferring, but only if you find someone you're comfortable with. I've only rented to friends, but may be in the position next year to need some extra points. I'm hoping to find someone local. Think I'd feel better if I could meet them first.

I have never rented or xferred points before so I am very nervous. Especially since we are going to make our friends pay for the additional points needed. I would feel horrible if something went wrong! We do have enough points for the trip but we want to save the additional points it would cost for the extra BR for our own personal use...

I have already asked one friend who has tons of points but they don't have any to spare. I only know of 2 other families who are DVC members - guess I'll ask them next...
