Hi!

Please let me know if this isn't the right spot to ask; I wasn't entirely sure where. Thank you!

My family was interested in going to Disney in January. When logged into the account to use our own points, it seems there's barely any availability at all for DVC anywhere which I found odd as I thought January was a more quiet/dead time to go. We were intrigued by the idea of renting points. (Would it be a moot point to try and rent them if DVC's own website shows not much available anyway??) We've never done it before. Are there any particular places you prefer to work with (i.e. process is simple/streamlined, etc.)?

Or would we be better off just trying to book a room via Disney that wasn't a DVC but just regular resort room and paying OOP with the passholder discount?

Thank you for any help! :)

If you can’t get a room by points no one else can either. You are trying with only three months to go that’s why you can’t find anything.

I agree, You waiting way to long to book....
maybe go check SSR or OKW they tend to book last..... you most likely will not get a studio for many consecutive nights

you may also want to verify you email so that you can pm.

if at some point in the future you want to rent points, you will be one step closer.

I agree with above - 3 months in advance is too late, even for a less popular time like January. At this point, you’re better off booking with a cash AP discount.

Unless you find a confirmed reservation for the dates/resort you want to rent, the inventory that owners wanting to rent their points see is exactly the same as what you can see.
What I’d do is make a cash reservation & also put in a waitlist w/ DVC. Then stalk the site several times a day & try to piece a stay together. If you manage to get a villa booked via waitlist/stalking you can cancel your cash reservation.

If considering reserving DVC in the future, be aware that owners of a resort can make reservations for their home resort starting at 11-months out from date of arrival. Members can start reserving other DVC resorts they do not own starting at 7-months out from date of arrival. Many rooms fill during that 11-month window, and whatever is left can fill very quickly once the 7-month window opens. Trying to reserve something only 3-months out is often very difficult to impossible to get. And Jan is not a "quiet" DVC demand time, e.g., marathon weekend (Thurs to Sun) is one of the highest DVC demand times of the year
