Just for fun I called in this morning precisely at 8CST (when MS opens) and at my 180 day window. I immediately got through and was told not only was the event full, but the CM ,since the beginning of this "perk", has never been successful in securing a reservation for a member. Always full. After reading this thread, that's what I expected, but they really need to expand the amount of people coming through this tour and increase the regularity of the offerings.

I know this is an old thread, but I wanted to say DO NOT call 1 minute before 9. Make sure that it is actually 9 when you place the call. If you call at 8:59 and you are on hold for a long time, you are most likely not really in queue and will just hear the music/recording on loop until you hang up. It sounds like this happened to some of you. I used to work at member services and we often had members call in and yell at us because they called in at 8:59, waited for over an hour before hanging up, and then called back and got right through. It's a weird little glitch or something. The queue doesn't start filling until it opens at 9.

Keep trying. After a dozen calls, we finally booked for tomorrow (booked about 2 weeks ago)

That means that if you have an onsite reservation you can call and book reservations that start 180 days from the check in date Plus up to 10 days of that reservation. It doesn't mean that the booking starts at 190 days from the start of your onsite reservation. The 180+10 is the norm for onsite stays and yes, from what I've heard this follows that rule.

180 + 10 means that if you check in 180 days from now, you can book reservations on your first day and 9 additional days if you are staying that long. So if you are staying 5 days, the people who arrive five days before you arrive and are staying 10 days can book all those hard to get reservations before you can. This is why it it so difficult to book the Chef's Table at Victoria and Alberts for example.

On hold now, expected wait time is 18 minutes. I totally forgot about this and don't expect it to be available but will keep trying
if not for my dates of September 9-16. Is it correct that it is only on Wednesdays or should I ask them to look at each date individually.

Trying to get into DVC special things is always a nightmare. So discouraging.

Haven't been in that situation, but if you are that concerned about it, take a birth certificate.

Shouldn't be an issue, Disney is pretty understanding about age changing during vacations.
