DVC Perks

My son and his new bride are in WDW now. Their room key says "member" and I told them to ask about discounts whenever they're spending money, the most that can happen is that they're told "no".

They went to the Downtown Disney "world of disney" store and were told no discount. It shows on the list on the members' website.

My DH and I haven't used our points for a few years due to illness so I'm not up to date on things. Can they get a list of Perks at the front desk? They're at BVC.

I know there has been an AP discount at that store for some time now, but have not heard of a DVC discount there. They should have gotten a Portable Perks folder with their check in pack.

Are you confusing the World of Disney store with The Disney Store in malls? They are two different entities.

As you know, technically they are not entitled to any member perks. That doesn't mean that their KTTW card won't allow them some. On our last visit, we were asked for our Membership card a couple of times.

I get the feeling that Disney is starting to crack down on enforcing who gets the perks. Yesterday I made a reservation for a friend and I was asked a couple of times if they were a renter or a guest.

I probably wouldn't trust the list on the website - I don't think the website is all that great most of the time. But if they got the current Portable Perks book at check-in, whatever is in effect will be listed there.

But I agree with the others who said they're not really entitled since they're not the members, so whatever they do get is a bonus, anyway.

Congratulations to the newlyweds. How great is WDW for a honeymoon! Lucky them.

I just looked at the Members' Website (WDW Shopping discounts), and did not see any member discount listed for the World of Disney in Downtown Disney. (I've copied the list below for those who may not have access to the Members' Website).

AFAIK, there has never been a DVC Member discount at the World of Disney, although some have reported getting one. IMO, those were the result of CM error. There is a discount for annual pass-holders at WoD, though.

DVC members have been invited to the special shopping event at the World of Disney on July 24.

But I agree with the others who said they're not really entitled since they're not the members, so whatever they do get is a bonus, anyway.

I don't know if it's still in the rules, it's been awhile since I've read them but I know at one time the rule stated that if the people staying are your "guests" (not paying) they are entitled to DVC perks.

I don't think World of Disney ever had a DVC discount.
