DVC perks if you are renting?

I think I have read before that if you are renting points, you get all the perks that an owner would (correct me if I'm wrong!).

If you get any discounts, do you just use your room key, since you would not have the DVC member card?

You receive all the perks that any on-site guests would receive. That includes early park entry (when applicable) and package return to your resort for example.

DVC Member Perks are for members and you will need your blue DVC member card as well as identification. There are some cases where some may report receiving a perk with their KTTW card, but that is not supposed to be the case.

It really depends. Officially, only the members get DVC perks. However, many places may accept only your KTTW card which will most likely say "DVC Member" on it if you are renting points. However, any location reserves the right to request your DVC Member card which a renter would not have.

I have been asked for my actual member card at a few locations and also for valet parking (which is no longer free for DVC members, so not relevant at this point).

Nope, not true. Since you are not the member, nor staying with the member at their DVC resort on points, you are not entitled to any DVC perks.

I have been asked for the Blue member card recently, in 2006 not asked so much for, but last year I was.

There are three categories: Member, Guest, and Renter.

Members are entitled to the whole enchilada. They have a room key that says "DVC Member", and a blue Member ID.

Guests of Members are are entitled free Internet and maybe one or two others. They have a room key that says "DVC Member", but do not have a blue Member ID. It is possible that some CMs will take just the member-designated room key for a perk, but they are not supposed to.

Renters aren't entitled to anything. Their room key will not say "DVC Member". Exchange guests or cash guests booking through CRO are treated as "Renters".

It is up to the Member to identify people they book for as Members vs. Guests. Naturally, rentals are worth more if the Member "forgets" to tell DVC, so many members "forget".

Not exactly correct. Guests are staying with the member who is staying on points at a DVC resort or they have been given the reservation for no compensation. Guests may be entitled to some perks and benefits . If the member has been compensated for the stay, the non-member is not entitled to any perks or benefits.

This was exactly what I was trying to say. But, the Member has to tell DVC if the person staying on their points is a Renter, or a Guest. Naturally, many Members "forget" to do so.
