DVC Perk? - Laundry? Fitness Center? Internet?

Hey all ~

I'm rentng DVC points to stay at AKL in May. I think I read somewhere that my "studio" doesn't conatin a washer/dryer combo but that I can use laundry facilities at no cost. Is that true or did I imagine that? How does that work?

I'm training for a half marathon and will need to get in at least a 6 mile run while at WDW. There doesn't look to be a decent running path so I'm looking at using the fitness center. I've read that it's free or that there's a $15 per day charge. Sort of confusing. Is it free for DVC? Will I have that perk?

I know that internet is free for DVC does that work for DVC renters?

Laundry room is free on the DVC side of the resort.
Not sure about the fitness center tho since I haven't used it in awhile.
I think they required us to show our resort card AND DVC member card to get it for free but that was a long while ago.

Free internet is supposedly only for DVC members. But some renters have said that they weren't charged for it.
So if you weren't charged then you're lucky, but the rule is free only for members.

I am a member and the free internet did show up on my bill once. I had to show my DVC member card to get it removed. So if it shows up on your bill after thinking you got it for free, you won't have a blue member card to show. It's really a member perk and not a perk for someone who compensated the member for their stay.

About the only decent running path option I can think of is around the lake at the Epcot Resorts -- Beach/Yacht, Swan/Dolphin, Boardwalk (possibly with an extension down to DHS and back) and then back to Beach/Yacht. I don't know what the mileage of that is, but I'm guessing you could put together a couple of laps and have a 6-miler out of traffic with good surfaces to run on. It would certainly beat a treadmill!

I mentioned this on another thread...I've never paid to use the fitness facility at any DVCs--I just show my room key. Since you're staying on a member's points, I'm not sure if your room key will show member or not. You shouldn't pay for the internet, because I think it's tied to how you reserve the room.

We were recently at AKV Kidani and used our key to get into the fitness center but nobody asked for anything once we were in there

The fitness centers used to have a separate charge, but IIRC they are now folded into the room rate, property-wide. So, if you are a registered guest at a resort with a fitness center, your room key should grant you access.

The internet may or may not be comped. It depends on how your stay is coded. Technically, it isn't supposed to be, but it might. I end up just using a 3G data card anyway, as it is often as fast (or faster), and I understand the security model better.
