I upgraded my standard AP to a PAP today at the new DVC discount price. Actually go $5.32 back. That's right. A discounded PAP is less than the standard (non-resident) AP I bought in September.
Any potential drawbacks of upgrading? We bought standard APs in mid-Dec and are considering upgrading to PAPs via DVC discount in our visit later this month. But ... might this create problems when trying to renew next year? (Can a PAP be renewed as a standard AP in the future?)

Wow! Money back from Disney! Miraculous! I will look forward to doing the same in two weeks time.

Great news! May I ask how/where you did it? I'm heading down to compete in the 1/2 marathon, and want to upgrade our 4 APs (3 purchased in Oct., one purchased in Dec.) to PAPs. Been wondering how to accomplish the upgrade with the DVC discount. Very cool that you actually got cash back!
I bot my AP in Dec, 1st date that I used it was Dec 28, I went today to City Hall, in MK, I got $5.35 back! Yippee, then I went to Disney Quest, & played the pinball games for about 1/2 hr & then got a piece of cheescake! going home tomor. diet time!! LOL! Val

Just take your old AP, your Blue DVC membership card, and a photo ID to any Park (or DD) Guest Services window. Took us about 10 minutes because it was the first one they had done. Now that they know the routine, it should go a lot faster.
