Hi. I'm totally lost. On April 28th, I tried to buy my DVC discounted PAP online, but it didn't work so I called directly. I had to explain to the CM several times that NO I was NOT renewing my old pass, but buying a whole new group of the DVC discounted passes. Finally, I get the correct quoted price for the 3 passes, give out my credit card number, she explains "will call" (not well, but I've done will call before) and I get a confirmation number of my order.

In the past I've always received hard copy exchange certificates to take to guest services. The CM never stated if I would receive these or if I'm just supposed to use the confirmation number of my order.

I am thoroughly confused and now I'm wondering not only if I'm supposed to have exchange certificates, but how this works with the new magic bands.:confused3 My next trip isn't until July and I don't want my passes activated until then.

How do I link these up so that we can get our magic bands before leaving without activating? Sorry, but this isn't making sense to me.

If the CM set them up for "Will Call", you will not receive Exchange Certificates (aka Vouchers). You can link the will call confirmation to MDE and that will allow you to make advance FP+ selections. Linking them to MDE will NOT activate the passes, you must still stop at either a park ticket window or guest relations location to get your actual passes.

Thank you!!! We've been taking a break from Disney for a little while and this whole new set up has thrown up for a loop!

Don't forget they told me when I pick up my DVC PAP I will need:
1) photo ID
2) DVC membership card
3) the card I bought the passes with.

You won't get your AP MBs for those APs until after they are activated.

Assuming you're staying onsite, you'll get the MBs for the onsite stay, but not the special AP ones.

Once you enter your confirmation number into MDE on your computer. You can then assign them to the right people in your party. Once that is done you can order your MB. We purchased the disounted PAP in early April.. just need to have everyone pick out their MB colors and order them

No need to go to will call bc the tickets are linked to your MB

This information is not correct and can cause confusion.

"Once you enter your confirmation number into MDE on your computer. You can then assign them to the right people in your party. "

CORRECT.

"Once that is done you can order your MB."

NOT TRUE. You cannot order MBs on an inactive pass. You have to activate your pass before you can order MBs.

"No need to go to will call bc the tickets are linked to your MB "

NOT TRUE. He must go to will call to pick up and activate his pass. Once he picks up his pass it can then be linked to his account.

When you order a NEW AP Disney only links the fact that you bought the pass so you can make fastpass+ selections. You do not have a AP yet. The task of "linking" the confirmation number is only a placeholder. Once you visit WDW you must pickup your AP. Once you get your AP you then link the real pass to the guest it belongs to. You can have the guy at the window do this or you can do it on your phone, PC or at the turnstile. At this point you now have an active pass. You can NOW order MBs for the passes.

If you renew your pass you will be able to get MBs right away as your pass is active.

If you have an old AP that is still active when you linked the confirmation you "will" be able to order bands as long as you have not done so already, and as long as the old pass is valid.

Again Disney only mails bands for "active" passes and resort stays.

NOTE: If you go to the "MagicBands and Cards" section of the MDE website you can view the "active" passes and tickets. You will NOT see will call NEW AP purchases or mailed vouchers here. You "will" see any old APs here if they are still active. This would allow a MB order if you have not made 1 already for these active passes.

All will call and mailed vouchers will only show in the "My reservation & Tickets" section. They add them here so you can make FP+ selections.

I had a will call number last November and was able to get a magic band and fastpasses in advance. I did have to go to a window to show my DVC card and activate.

NOT TRUE.

They were "not" giving out MB's for AP's last NOV.

If you got MB's in advance last NOV it was because you had a resort reservation "not" an "inactive" AP.

Your pass is NOT active until you go to the window. So they would not mail the band until that happens first.

Disney website even says:

Q.
I recently purchased an Annual Pass on disneyworld.com and have an exchange certificate. How do I customize and order my MagicBand?

A.
If you have not already done so, please follow these steps to have your MagicBand shipped to your home:

1.Create a Disney account.
2.Link your Annual Pass or Passes to your Disney account. Your Pass may have been linked automatically when you purchased it on disneyworld.com.
3.Activate your Pass at any Walt Disney World theme park ticket window or a Downtown Disney Guest Relations location. Please bring your exchange certificate and a valid photo ID, such as a driver’s license or passport.
4.Customize your MagicBand.

ALSO:
"Please note that you can start making FastPass+ selections as soon as you link your Annual Pass to your Disney account—you do not need to visit Walt Disney World Resort or wait to receive your MagicBand."

Lets try to keep the info consistent people to help the confusion some are having with MB's and FP+.

I strongly suggest you call the MDE help line. It is a bit of a wait, but they are extremely helpful. They will walk you through the entire process. I have called them twice for two separate issues, once for my APs and was very satisfied with the help. We just used our AP magic bands this past week and LOVED them.
