That is great that you are able to find contentment. We should all be seeking the same. Philippians 4:11.I don't feel like a second class DVC owner. I bought points and can stay at OKW for a week every year through 2041 at generally the same price as CBR. I can currently book other resorts. I get to go to Disney World during my go go retirement years and hopefully watch my someday grandchild see the castle for the very first time.
Of course, the lounge in mk has me plotting direct points!
But I paid cash for my contract. It took a long time and some sacrifice to make it happen. I set aside money each paycheck for dues at the end of the year. It will be a stretch when I quit for good.
I am content with my second class DVC lifestyle. Love to dream and scheme for more, but grateful nonetheless.
I am not worried about the changes I expect to come. I bought to own to the end so selling doesn't concern me. Either I won't be allowed or won't be able to swap out of OKW in the last few years. That's okay with me.
Everything could change about DVC but I believe I will still be able to enjoy my home resort to the end. My investment was small and didn't damage my long term fiscal health.
I am a first class second cousin DVC owner!
If an entire condominium association withdraws or is removed from the Buena Vista Trading Company (the in-house DVC exchange company), then no owner of that condo association will be able to use those points at another resort. There won't be any discrimination between owners. For instance (I AM NOT SAYING THEY WILL DO THIS), when 2042 gets closer, DVC could withdraw BWV from the BVTC. If that happened, none of the BWV owners could trade out of BWV into another DVC resort, and owners of other resorts couldn't trade in. That would allow BWV owners to use all their points before their resort expires.Glad everyone is having a good debate on resale versus direct- but I feel like my original question hasn’t been answered.
Regardless of direct or resale DVC member, can Disney take away your ability to reserve at resorts other than your home resort after your contract is purchased?
No, by Florida law they have to treat all owners the same. It's the condo association as a whole that has the right to make exchanges via BVTC - either all owners of a given condo association can use BVTC, or none can use it.Or could they say, make it so direct members could reserve non home resorts at 7 mo but change resale members to say, 3 months?
I guess I just read the misc section of the rules and regulations as it is in their right to do anything of those things.
Thoughts?

Yes, but don’t those different rules have to be in effect when the person buys? OP is concerned about DVC taking away trading rights after they purchase. I don’t think that can happen. They can have different rules for resale vs. direct when it comes to using BVTC...that is how we have the restricted resorts.
