So I have my 11-month out reservations for a May/June 2-week trip at our home resort (OKW), to make sure we had a place to stay (2 separate rooms). We are hoping to make a 7-month reservation at BWV or BCV to replace the OKW when the booking window opens (assuming there is still availability and we do not have to waitlist).

Technical question - when the 7-month window opens, is it possible (without waitlisting) to make the reservation and replace the existing without first cancelling the existing, then waiting for the points to appear, then trying for the replacement at BWV/BCV? Looking for the smoothest option here from anyone who has gone through this type of chess game. Thanks!

You can only book 7 nights right at the 7 mo window. One unit at a time. So you risk not getting the 2nd unit, and you need to wait to book the next 7 nights. Risky, yes, but if you book 1 week, keep the original 2nd week then try again. If not you will just have to move at the half way point. You should have your trip set up a 1 week + 1 wek X2 so you can do online modification. Or you will need to wait and call at 9am.
Good luck and have a great trip.

Ah the 7 night limit had not crossed my mind. Thanks, very helpful!

All you have to do with is modify the existing reservation at 7 months. The points from the existing reservation will be applied to the new reservation using the same contracts, in the same order with banked and borrowed points being used first. But you’ll have to wait until the window opens for the second week to make that change.

You say you have two rooms. Does that mean you booked two villas for 14 nights each (one reservation of 14 nights for each villa) or one villa for seven nights and a second villa for seven nights?

Awesome advice, thanks! It answered my biggest question about the technical aspects of making the resort change.

Actually we have (1) 2-BR villa for 15 nights, then a second room - Studio for 7 nights (arriving mid stay until the end).
