DVC Merry Mixer

Hi there

This December will be our 1st trip "home" using our DVC membership (you have no idea how excited we are!!)

Please can anyone tell me about the Merry Mixers? There will be me and DBF - both DVC members - and we're taking my Father as a break and a huge treat/spoil (he's the primary carer for my grandmother with Alzheimers and needs some fun), but he's not a DVC member.

Will we all be able to go or is it strictly members only? What happens at a mixer? I'm a fairly social person (can't stop talking lol) but DBF and Dad are quiet people....Also we're big on pin trading - is there a special pin released or anything?

What else should we expect? Sorry for all the questions - just really curious!!

We are having our 1st December Home as well. there is a thread that has all of the dates/info for the merry mixer somewhere. It is usually on Thursdays from 3p-5p near the international gateway at Epcot. DH and I are planning to attend as well. There is good info. about the mixer on the dvc site. We'll be at SSR from 12/12-12/20.

We had a great time at last year's mixer. Lots of characters around (and photopass photographers) a Dj, kids dance party. There was a huge pin board staffed by CMs you could trade with. Cookies, hot cider. We didn't really mingle but there were large tables set up where you could sit to have your snack and chat.

Sounds really lovely!! Are they really crowed or just right? And we can bring lanyards? great!!

Dh and I attended last year and had a lovely time. People start lining up early, and the line seems really long but they had characters going up and down the line entertaining people so the time went quickly. Once they started letting people in the line moved very quickly. We only stayed for about 30 minutes but it was a fun 30 minutes. I didn't find it too crowded, there was plenty of room to move around, or to sit if you so desired.

Thank you so much for the link - the Merry Mixer looks GREAT!! The pins, the cookies, the characters, and I love seeing other people having a great time - I'll be one of the ones queuing to get in way before 3!!

I'm really excited now and can't wait to show DBF the thread.....been trying to get Dad all excited too....I guess he'll be more hyped nearer the time - he's still absorbing all the information I'm giving him that we're squeezing into 2 weeks!!

Since Christmas is on a Thursday, I am not sure if they will do the Merry Mixer that day. We will miss the Merry Mixer this year, we are arriving on the 27th and staying thru the 4th.

We went to some last summer. I don't think it was called a Merry Mixer but it was a big party outside of Epcot. Lots of ice cream! Are there dates for this summer as well?
