DVC Membership cap???

One thing I have read on this board in a few threads is the concern that with SSR, and the possibility of other DVC resorts is that it may be tougher to book at the 7 month window if you dont want to stay at your "home" resort.

This made me wonder what the cap on membership is at each resort, and how they figure it out. Since SSR eventually will be the biggest, it obviously adds that many more members who will want to book.

But it seems that most people here also have had success at the 7 month window at what seems to be the most popular non-home resorts BWV and BCV.

If SSR is a popular resort however, it may take a little pressure off the other resorts too!

Each resort has a finite number of points to be sold based on the number of units at that resort. It seems to me that, while some resorts that are smaller or popular, there will alwasy be availability at the 7 month window much as there is now, because the ratio of members to units available remains the same.

I think the availible rooms at the 7 month window for the smaller resorts wont change much, but I do think the people calling exactly 7 months out to get those rooms will be larger.....

We see posts here all the time from members who "don't buy where they want to stay" and try to get waitlists for the resorts they are more interested in than their home resort. I think it makes sense to conclude that with so many new SSR members, a certain percentage will be competing with the current 7 month window crowd for a dwindling resource, that being availability at a smaller resort like BCV or VWL. On the plus side, having stayed at most of the DVC resorts, even if I have to accept my last choice of DVC resort for reservations it is still pretty terrific.
