DVC Members and Disney Marathon

I just went to sign up for the 1/2 marathon for next year online and it said DVC members should call NOT register online.

Does anyone know why?

Is there a discounted fee, or do they guarantee DVC members a spot?

Anybody know anything about it?

I would also like to know the answer to this question. I left a message for them to call me back. Hopefully I'll here something today..they said they would be returning calls Monday afternoon.

There have been discounts on the registration fee in the past. That is probably the reason for calling.

What is the date for the marathon? Is it on the same weekend every year.

I also want to run next year.

It's the weekend of January 8th and registration is now open.

I would suggest registering soon.

There is a small discount for DVC members. DH used it last year, but felt it wasn't worth the hassle, so he just registered online and didn't get the discount. He's in for 2005!

Good to know. I just registered online anyway. I'm in for the half marathon, that will be hopefully followed by a 2 week stay at SSR!!!

officer tigger: it is on the disney site. Go to the wide world of sports, there will be a listing on the left hand side of the page. Click on road races and marathons, and it will be on the screen.

The DVC discount for the 1/2 Marathon is $5. I called today. I had to leave a message. A very pleasant CM called me back early afternoon. He offered to send the application, but when I expressed concern over the possibility of being shut out waiting for snail mail, he said he could email it to me. As long as it was postmarked before registration was full, I'd be guaranteed a spot.

I called also and they offered to email, but didn't say anything about the postmark date, so I opted to just register online.
