is anyone else sick of the length of the recording we are forced to listen to when calling member services?? it would be nice if we could just push a number to bypass these ads/announcements!!!

Contact Member Satisfaction and let them know how you feel.

I actually stayed on the phone after my recent call to leave that same comment with their "random selection" poll - for which I seem to be always selected. Told them that the rep was great and the experience was wonderful except for having to listen to the whole spiel. It would be great if they would let us "punch through" rather than forcing us to listen to it all.

I think it is a form of the standard Disney line. Give them something to do while they are waiting. Otherwise, we might have an extra two minutes of "an associate will be with you shortly" type message.

You can skip over all of the messages except for the one where they are trying to sell you their travel insurance. That one you must wade through, the rest you can just touch the number of the entry but which you must remember the entry number so you don't have to wait for them to give you the menu of choices. I use the insurance time to dig out my member card, so i don't really listen to it. I do agree, I think the junk messages are there to give a little distance between each caller. Kind of like a stop light on a freeway on ramp...

I also hate the long spiel. I already have the insurance. I was thinking that Travelex may have this non-skippable advertising included as a part of the deal they struck with DVC.

Maybe. I tend to think DVC gets a commission on every policy members buy and thus they do not want to miss a chance to sell it, lol

I suspect you are correct here. From what I read in the past, the CMs (or the computer) would put the insurance on automatically and you have to specifically tell them to take it off. Quite a few members had that argument with MS after they checked their reservations... They don't do this anymore even though i still make sure it was not included every time i make a reservation. I don't quite understand the advantage of the insurance. It does not return your lost points, only covers your maintenance fees for the next year. The points are worth so much more then the maintenance fees. IMHO they should refund the rack rate value of the lost vacation... :rotfl2: :)

The insurance also covers airfare, lost baggage, etc.

I just saw this and tried it just now (sun 24 at 9:55 am) . You can only skip the first message telling you what number to hit, after that you have to listen to it all.

I just tried and this is what I got:

as soon as the phone answer you can hit #1 that takes you to DVC welcome home which includes the INS info. then you need to listen to it all. If you hit #1 again it just continues on where you were.

Awhile back you could skip it all but not anymore.

that is exactly why i started this thread! I wish we could just hit a series of numbers to bypass the spiel. Many times there is little or no wait except for their ads/announcements. After a few calls it gets pretty old and frustrating.

I have definitely noticed & certainly find it annoying. It will really annoy me when I start calling at 7AM on my 7-mo mark to try to get a reservation that, if available, will be in short supply. It doesn't matter to me if everyone else has to listen to it, too, those few moments of waiting will make me crazy!

I really did think it was time used to make sure I can find my DVC card and organize my thoughts.;)

:confused3 I was working on a reservation for BLT standard studio at the most busy time of the year. So i called every morning for nearly 2 weeks adding on one day at a time, last call was about a week and half ago... When they answer and start taking push 1, then listen to the spiel about the insurance then push 1 again when they are finished, then when it says "we here at DVC..." (or what ever) push 2 and then you are in the que for a CM. You do have to wait for the recording to start talking before pushing the numbers except for the insurance part. If you push a key during this it just pauses until you get done pushing buttons and continues where if left off. I guess the system likes me, it worked great for me. I had it down to such a science, i could start the call at 9:00 and be done with my day add on by 9:04... :)
