I thought I saw some threads that DVC members have free parking at the parks. I couldn't find the info anywhere, is it true or am I just making it up?

Definitely true -- just keep your resort parking pass on the dash of your car. Parking will wave you through the tollgates. (This is assuming that you're staying at a resort, of course -- you can't just flash your member card if you're staying off property. This "perk" is not exclusive to DVC -- any resort guest from Pop Century to the GF gets free parking at the parks.)

Passholders and CMs get free parking. All resort guest staying at a Disney resort also get free parking during their stay to include their last day. So no being a DVC member doesn't get you free parking at the theme parks.

It's the fact that you are a WDW resort guest, when staying on your DVC membership at one of the villas, that entitles you to the free parking at the park.

Anyone staying on property is entitled to it. If you are off site and not either a AP holder or CM, as mentioned, then you would have to pay.

We used to get free valet parking at places like BW, but That was taken away. I believe

Free parking at WDW is not a perk for DVC members. It is a perk for staying at a WDW resort. So if you are a DVC member staying offsite, you will have to pay to park unless you have an AP.

... or unless you have a TIW card (which means you are AP or Florida resident). TIW also gives you free valet at resorts when you are dining there.

Additional detail on parking at a Theme Park with a TiW card:
Theme Park parking is complimentary to members, for the sole purpose of dining. Before 5:00pm, please pay for parking at the Toll Plaza. Visit Guest Relations on your way out of the Theme Park, and if it has been less than 3 hours, show your membership card and dining receipt for reimbursement for parking. After 5:00 p.m., members can show their membership card at the toll plaza to enter the parking lot. Theme park admission is required for dining in all Theme Park restaurant locations. On Block-Out dates, there will be a charge for parking and valet services.

Many years ago, when we bought, it was true. But there was no AP/PAP discount. Now we have the AP/PAP discount but lost the privilege of flashing our membership card for free parking at the theme parks.

All people staying on site have free parking at the parks. Also all AP holders have free parking at the parks.

So really DVC free parking at the parks would only be of use when you were going to the parks but not staying on site.

When did you buy? We bought in 1997 and didn't have a free parking at the theme parks without a WDW stay with DVC membership. Only with AP/PAP.
