From time to time there are exclusive activities. For instance , earlier this month there was a private show and book signing for DVC members at Disney Studios by Marty Sklar, an imagineer that worked on designing all existing Disney parks. There are also generally some DVC specific gatherings during the holidays. Often these member activities are very short notice and they are relatively few and far between.
Right now they are having a Members Very Merry Mixer at Epcot on Mondays for the next 3 weeks from 3 to 5. They generally hold Welcome Home Wednesdays for members in the Atlantic Dance Hall at the Boardwalk. They usually have guides there to talk to but there is no hard sell.
They have also had member mingles at AKV weekly but haven't heard of them lately. You have to sign up for those. They used to have the same type of gathering at BLT at the Top of the World lounge but stopped after BLT sold out.
That doesn't mean you can't get pts. Disney will still sell you BLT direct, but you need to ask, they won't volunteer because it is not what they are pushing. And of course, you can always get BLT on the resale market.

I just talked to my guide a couple weeks ago-- you can get on a waiting list for points that they acquire through surrenders or ROFR, but they do not have any available for BLT ( as of beginning of november)
