hello all,

I don't come often on the DISboard but I'm sure I'll find what I'm looking for in no time :thumbsup2

My DH and I are looking into becoming DVC member on our next trip in Sept 2009. Knowing that DVC is only registered in Ontario, I got some questions to ask to any of you that's from Quebec - no offense to my other fellow Canadians. And also to know how it went with the initial purchase.

Since I don't have enough posts yet, I can't PM anyone yet

:thanks:

hello Louise,

thanks for your reply :thumbsup2

last year we made the DVC tour at SSR with a guide and we're already aware of the deposit that we have to give when we buy... but what I wanted to know was how the transaction was made. Did you have to open a special account in US funds or did you give the deposit by check. Also do you have to declare the purchase to Revenu Quebec once the transaction is complete.

I think that would be the major questions for now

thanks

Lucie

Hi WDW_forever,
We have been members since Dec.'07 and absolutely love it. We used our Mastercard for the purchase as it earned us airmiles. I am very certain that they will take a personal check, however it may make the process longer. They also can take the deposit in the form if a bank draft or money order. Are you financing it? If so perhaps it would be best to find a finance institution from home here. I do know that in order to pay our annual dues on a monthly withdrawl plan they required us to have a US checking account with a US bank institution so we opted to pay our annual dues at the beginning of each use year via our Mastercard. Hope this helps. BTW who is your guide. Ours is Michael Johnson and he is wonderful (very knowledgable). If you have any further questions feel free to ask. Looking forward to welcoming you home as a DVC member. :)

I'm in Montreal. Technically my mom is the DVC OWNER, but I handle the membership pretty much ( including when we've added on ).

we were actually thinking of doing one or the other

we're not planning on financing as we have a saving account with money put in every 2 weeks since we came back last year and it'll continue til next year .
Good to know about the US funds checking account, I thought it would be like that.

I don't remember the guide we'd met last year :scratchin - it's written in the Dream book they gave us. He gave us great explanations and it's quite unfortunate we can call him directly from home :sad2: but I'm hoping to meet with him again next year.

my other question: anything to be declare at Revenu Quebec???

thanks again and nice to know we won"t be the only DVC member from here :thumbsup2

Where is everyone's home resort? Did you purchase through Disney directly or resale?

We own at AKV (purchased through Disney directly) and BCV (purchase resale)

We love, love, love our DVC.

thanks for the answer by PM... sorry not enough posts yet to reply back by PM :confused3

I actually work as a nurse at St'Marys hospital but I live in L'Assomption ;)

Hi
I also bought DVC in dec 07  love love love wdw ...
Already did a trip in DL ( california ) on my points august 08 will be my first trip home ( akv ) cannot wait .
No we didn,t have to declare anything to revenu québec , we paid cash( no financing ) so it was a check we already had a us fund checking account here in montreal ( st-hubert ) .
Since we go to wdw , DL , DCL at least 2 time a year my only regret is ....... not buying before :rotfl: but I had to convince DH to join so ..but now Iam counting the days till I try my DVC .
You will love it .

Well, I am gone for a day and look at all this activity!:rotfl2: The only thing I can add is that we pay our dues in January and I put it on my credit card and then pay the credit card. This saves the whole US account business. When the dollar was dreadful- I opened up a US account in Canada and deposited money then paid with a money order. The monthly depositing made the horrendous exchange a little more bearable.

I live in St. Bruno and we bought 8 years ago. Our home resort is BWV, and I love my DVC!!!!! If you have any other questions, feel free to ask!

Really, Just so you know I have had 2 of my 3 girls at St. Mary's and I know for a fact that the nurses completely run that place. I'm certain that the doctors work for you (and the rest) they just don't know it! Love that hospital.

Heh my wife and daughter were born at St-Mary's. Longer ago than that, but just thought it was interesting :) ... DW was born there in 1976. DD was born there in 1995. DS was born at Lakeshore General as we had moved to the West Island by then.
