I am a new DVC member. In reading all the various benefits/discounts for a member, I would think the discount on the AP was be the most used. Am I correct?

You have realize that benefits come and go. The only thing you are promised with DVC is being able to book your home resort (and possibly another DVC resort). That's all.

The most popular benefit probably was free valet parking. It disappeared overnight. Member who had parked for free the night before, were asked to pay the next day.

I've noticed that you have started a lot of threads, which of course is totally cool, but I think you'll find pretty much all the answers to your questions in that area. Might be easier to pore over those than to wait for people to reply in each of your threads

IMO the discounts are smoke and mirrors. They want to offer something for marketing purposes so they offer some discounts that you may or may not be interested in using. There are black-out dates so you want to print a copy of portable perks found through Google to verify the discounts and dates.

DVC's new management also came up with "membership magic", events or activities that you pay for that only DVC owners are allowed to buy.

I've been a DVC member for more than 20 years, and have never purchased an Annual Pass. It all depends on how often you visit, what time of the year you visit, and for how long.

For our purposes, the DINING discounts are the most frequently used benefit.

As for AP discounts, we've only held WDW APs twice in eleven years of membership. One round that we purchased using a DVC special offer (PAPs for the price of DVC APs) and the other when the passes were given to us as a purchase incentive. The AP discount at Disneyland is only $20 (laughable!); instead, we us SoCal discounts or purchase passes from Costco, when available.

We've had them, but not since the discount on them.

I'd think the biggest use of discounts is probably the small restaurant or shopping discounts that come and go. They are easy to use. I'm not sure if its still available, but there used to be a World of Disney discount that I bet got a bunch of use.

Not all members purchase APs. In fact on these boards I would say the minority purchase APs. Many have purchased several non expiring day passes for each member of their family. Now that the non-expiring passes are a thing of the past, it is possible more will go for the gold AP and take two or three trips not the same pass.

I think the most used DVC discounts are for purchases and dining. People like the 10% off without having to purchase an AP.

I bought gold annual pass. I'm going first week of February in 2016 then last week of January in 2017. 7 days both times. 3 park hoppers would be around $1200 each trip. 3 annual passes are $1700 so they will save me about $500 for the 2 trips
