Dvc lounge closed...no set date to open

We just walked over to the dvc lounge amd it is closed. No set date to reopen. Does anyone know if this is closed permenantly? I am starting to wonder since thye are not giving a reopen date.

The elevator work is taking longer than planned. It will reopen when they are done.

Just looked on the dvc fan website, and blog mickey, that the Odyssey is now temporarily closed, so I guess currently, there is no DVC lounge in Epcot. Hopefully everything will be fixed/open soon!

The temporary Odyssey lounge has been closed for weeks. It was only supposed to be there until July 13, and DVC apparently did not extend the stay.

It seems that initially it was promised to be a member perk until the end of a year (I forget which year). Then it was extended to the following year. DVC could say that a lounge was never promised to be a permanent thing in Epcot, but many of us think it should be (including me).

I think it will be back. It closed for work..elevator someone has said.. I think the temporary one is probably now closed because food and wine is starting soon and IIRC, they do use the Oydessy site during that.

Just remember it's not our money, at least not directly. DVD pays for the lounge. Not dues.

How is it different from the Disneyland lounge? Restrooms?

They have to moderate entry when it's at capacity. We're about 50/50 getting in immediately vs having to wait 10-15 minutes. It is what it is. They aren't going to just move the lounge to a larger space, much less custom build something new, just because people occasionally have to wait to go up.

If you are lobbying for the lounge to be shuttered and replaced with some other perk, I think you're in the minority on that one.

I don’t even remember the last time I was able to walk right up. I visited 3 times in the past 12 months and have had a 15 minute plus wait each time. It’s in an area of the park that makes a 20 minute wait useless (for me, my opinion only). I’m not going to ride Figment again while I wait. The one in DL is nicer, actually themed, and has restrooms. I’m not asking them to move it, or build something new, I’m stating my opinion.

If the point of perks is to make owning direct more appealing, it’s pointless (to me). That’s all I’m saying, my opinion. I don’t dislike it as a perk, I think it’s just useless to me in its current form and I am not intending to upset anyone with my opinion.

I expect many people burn time wondering around in the shop downstairs then buy something, so Disney doesn't see a down-side to waiting.

I was hoping that they would use the old lounge in AK Dinoland as a DVC lounge, but now with DInoland being replaced, I doubt that will happen.
