My daughter has a Blue DVC member card. Her kids, my grandkids, are visiting now and brought the DVC card with them but they were told at the desk they couldn’t go up to the lounge since the name on the card didn’t match. My granddaughter is 18, has ID and has the same last name as the card. Is that the correct?

They really shouldn't be able to use the card for any benefits at all.....some might not check for things like discounts but only the member can use the member's card.

Yes, that is what I have heard as well. We had to show our DVC card and ID I believe to get up there with our two guests.

I think they've been increasing restrictive. We went to the Epcot lounge on our last vacation and there was a family in front of us. They were taking a long time and I couldn't understand why. I thought perhaps, the lounge has reached it's capacity. But a few minutes later, the father became quite irate. I don't think they had their card with them and I'm not sure if there was a system they were searching or not. I couldn't see. But they didn't go up.

When it was our turn, we immediately asked if it was full. They said no and looked at our cards and sent us upstairs.

But even before this, DVC had always asked for the membership card and ID. And the card and ID has to have the exact name.

I hope they continue to be strict about who goes up. After all, its not for the general public and their friends. There's only so much seating as it is, and thats why we go up, to take a load off the old feet and rest for a few minutes. I think its a fantastic perk, keep checking those ID's!

They do have some system access at the lounge check-in desk. How much, though, I don't know. I didn't have one of the "newest" member cards, and the check-in CM checked my account and ordered a new card before allowing me access last month. But as others have replied to the OP, the deeded member MUST be present to gain lounge access.

Yes only the member and guests can go up. We were a party of 6, so 2 of us had to show cards and ID to go up. 3 of us are members. We actually had to split up too. First half went up, then the other half went up after someone came down

so that means each member can only take up 2 guests, right

If your group was 6 total (member + guests), you should have been able to go up in one group.

From the Member Lounge information on the member website:
Party size is limited to the Member and up to 5 guests per Membership Card.

As others have said, they check your blue dvc card to your ID. They also input your info into their iPad, which checks the dvc system. The first time we went to the lounge, it took a while to find us in the dvc system. Every subsequent time, our info pops right up on their iPad since we are repeat visitors.

The fact they had to wait for someone to come down before they could go up mean it was full and they had to wait for someone to leave.
