I already booked a 5 nite cruise with DU for 2010, I'm seriously looking at buying into a dvc for the land portion of this trip and future trips. Would DU book the DVC portion or would I do that direct with DVC? and once I bought a DVC would I recieve any discounts on the cruise portion? would I book ADR's and park tickets, shore trips with DVC or DU.

thanks and welcome home

currently
12 degrees but expecting to warm up to a balmy freezing

DVC stays are booked thru DVC Member Services. I'm not aware of any DCL discounts thru DVC, but that doesn't mean there couldn't be at some time. ADR's can either be booked with MS or thru disney dining when using DVC, I use disney dining. It isn't DU's ressie, so I don't think they would take care of the ADR's. DCL can be booked thru DVC if you are using your DVC points for the cruise and then I guess they would take care of the excursions, I haven't booked a DCL cruise thru DVC, so I'm not sure how that would work.

The one thing they told us when we bought into DVC was the cruise line portion was not really worth the points. I am not sure I agree but we have never used points to purchase DCL.

That being said, we LOVE DVC and have never regretted the decision to buy.

One thing to know, if you buy in, you should ask someone for a reference name as they get good stuff too!

I volunteer!!:lmao: :lmao:

Correct - you're DVC booking cannot go through a TA. It has to go through DVC Member services and DU would not be able to help you with the ADRs, etc for that portion of your vacation.

I've said this many times on the podcast. Booking the cruise through DVC isn't worth it. You can rent your points for more than the cruise costs - in some cases a lot more.

The only exception to this is the DVC member cruise (once a year). You can only participate in the DVC activities and receive the DVC goodies on this special cruise if you book with points - so that becomes worth it to use your points.
