DVC Kitchen

I just asked a question on the official Disney site about recipes, groceries, and use of the DVC kitchens.
I am asking as an adult, with a passion for cooking. Cooking as a hobby. Food & Wine is when we go, and it should perfectly dovetail with any DVC member who is into food, and trying new recipes.
Disney does not offer a full range of groceries in any of it's DVC locations, and the items stocked vary in each. Better selections are gotten from outside sources. Those of us that love to cook, need some help.
With the kitchen items stocked in a DVC, I feel Disney should come up with a DVC cookbook. Especially with a F&W version.

Huh? I shop at Publix when we go down and cook much the same as I do at home.

I'm confused by your post. Are you saying that the DVC stores need to stock more items? IMO, it's not going to happen. They stock what they feel they can sell. Most people do not do a lot of involved cooking in their DVC units and those that do can get their groceries from off-property or through delivery.

As for the cookbook, did you know that they put one out every year at the F&W Festival? You can purchase it at EPCOT. I'm not sure why DVC would put out a cookbook though.

I'm a bit confused too but here's what I gather from your post:

1) you want more items stocked at the shops close to DVC: I agree but I do all of my shopping at the grocery store and if I dont have a rental car I have it delivered

2) you would like a F&W cookbook: I agree! That would be nice!

I don't know if you have been in a DVC kitchen yet, but DH is a very serious cook. He found the DVC kitchens to be lacking in the many pots, pans, utensils that he prefers to use. He gladly made do with what was offered, though. ;) (He's just a Kitchen MacGuyver!) :rotfl2:

As far as groceries, the Winn-Dixie and Goodings are not far away, and Wegoshop or GardenGrocer are available. The cookbooks are for sale in Epcot, as PPs have said.

I would rather have the available space at WDW utilized with shops and restaurants than grocery stores. (I am not a cook!)

They do this every year. Just stop by the F&W Festival booth to pick one up. Last time I was there for F&W Fest, the cookbook was less than $10.

The point I was trying to make, is that the DVC kitchens are only stocked with basics. DVC stores offer less than the basics, no meats, and hardly any produce.
I do a lot of cooking in our DVC, and improvise with ingredients, and cookware. I own a copy of every Disney cookbook, and the F&W one also. But one would be hard pressed to make some of the recipes. Mainly because, one is on vacation, and doesn't have all the oils, spices, flour etc. So I was suggesting that Disney come up with a cookbook for vacation home cooks.
