DVC kitchen and dining facilities...how many use them...or do you eat most meals out?

We always have breakfast in the villa.. Sometimes just cereal and juice, other times eggs or frozen waffles... I think we have only had breakfast out one or two times in the ten+ years we have been going to OKW.. I don't care much for big breakfasts out and it is money saved to me by eating in.. We have eaten lunch in the room a number of times, maybe averaging once per trip when we are doing a 'resort day.' The only dinners we have eaten in have been when we ordered pizza a couple times.. We always talk about how on our next trip we will cook dinner in the room a couple of times.. It just never happens ;)

For some reason, my DH likes to cook breakfast when we are at WDW. Eggs, bacon, biscuits, he never does this at home! We even bring a stash of our fresh roasted coffee for the week. Not too many lunches, but we usually plan for several dinners in the villa. Those "down time" nights are really valuable! We eat in, watch TV or go to the pool. My only frustration is the lack of availability of quality "quick fix" meals at the grocery stores near WDW. We have a couple of stores close by at home that offer wonderful prepared food delis and packaged fresh stir fry meals etc. Wish we could find that in Orlando without driving across town. I know there's a Whole Foods store, but it's a distance. Diana

We eat breakfast in the room a lot, although not every day. We also have snack foods available for in the room (chips, cheese and crackers, cookies etc).

We do not do lunch of dinner in the room. It is just DH and I, no kids, so we enjoy eating out. Some days, especially when we're doing the World Showcase at Epcot, we may just snack all day on the various delicacies in the different countries, and not do an actual sit-down meal.

We usually do breakfast in the room, but we do like Spoodles for breakfast once or twice a week. We also keep snacks in the room, but most other meals are in the parks.

We will usually eat breakfast in our DVC home, with either lunch or dinner in a park. We try to take great advantage of our "home away from home", including meal preparation!!!

Like many others, DH and I eat breakfast in the room and hardly ever lunch. We brought 4 "frozen cooked at home" meals for our most recent 8 night stay. We had these at dinner time. We'll next be in a studio for a short stay, and I don't think anything to reheat, just breakfast foods and snacks.

Breakfast - always, unless we have ps to a character bfast.
Lunch - only on the day we go to a water park (we pack a lunch)
Dinner - maybe cook twice during a 1 week stay, usually have room service one time also.
Snacks - we carry almost all snacks with us from our stash in the room

I don't know about the theory that folks with more kids eat in the room more (we have 5 boys 11 and under) - it may be true for many, but I have enough to do just keeping up with the laundry for everyone. I'm not about to cook a meal - DH handles the meals on vacation.
I'm also confused about someone saying they "cook breakfast" - I'm not familiar with "cooking" anything before noon. Is it something special that you do with the cereal and milk or are you just refering to what happens when the waffles go into the toaster?

:) It's hard to cook on vacation when there are sooooooo many great and exciting places to eat:Pinkbounc

What REALLY works great for us is that I make "deli" sandwiches the evening we arrive (after the grocery stop). I get sub rolls, turkey, beef, cheeses, lettuce, etc and make hearty sandwiches, wrap tightly and put them in the fridge. Also slice up melons for easy snacking. We have a teenage boy (and usually a "borrowed" teen, also). They tend to come and go at different hours than we do - get up later, stay up later, come back for a swim. They love to be able to just grab a sandwich and fruit whenever they are hungry. I'm sure it saves us a fortune in counter meals. We also stock them ice cream, chips, etc.

As with others, we usually eat breakfast in the room. Over a week at least 1 or 2 of those is a full breakfast - eggs, sausage, bacon, toast, fruit. The rest of the days bagels, fruit, cereal. We find if we eat a hearty breakfast we often aren't hungry for lunch until maybe 2 pm.

Evenings we sometimes have pizza, salads, or leftovers from sit down dinners (always have leftovers!) It's nice to have wine & cheese close by in your own fridge, too.

We also plan 2 or 3 sit-down PS meals that we all meet up for. Almost always Boma and one or 2 others.

Like so many others that have come before me, we normally have a quick breakfast in the rooms and then head to the parks. I thought that when I joined DVC a couple of years ago, it would change the way we vacationed. You know, sleep a little later, relax a little more, hasn't happened yet. Even though there is next to nothing at any of the parks that I havn't done, I can't wait to be the first in line to do them again. Old habits die hard.

Breakfast always, lunch seldom, dinner sometimes. We've got little children, so we get up early head toe the parks, have a nice lunch as a stopping time for park activity, then head back to the resort for naps and the pool. Then sometimes it's an easy evening meal in the room, other times we have PS reservations. Wth our kids being under 6, sometimes eating out isn't always easy or enjoyable for them. Some sandwiches, chips, and fruit can really fit the bill, and then we're geared up for activity. Of course there's always those nightime snacks and sunday's we make.

We eat every breakfast and usually one other meal everyday in the room. This gives us more money to spend other places.
