We are thinking about doing one of the DVC information tours on our next trip. Can anyone tell me how we go about setting one up? Can this be arranged before we leave? Can we pick a day and time? Or, do they have set times that they take groups? Any info would be much appreciated! Thanks!

If you are interested its worth it. Yes you can reserve a time.

They have kiosks are most Hotel lobbys, and in the Parks, they would be happy to arrange one that will fit your schedule.

You might even get Fastpasses out of the deal. The ice cream at the end is yummy!

They even gave us a ride to our next ADR at Wilderness Lodge, when we were done with our ice cream. Hey, it's vacation, you can eat dessert first!
:thumbsup2

There is no need to set up a tour before you get there. DVC has information kiosks in all WDW resorts, Theme Parks and at DD. Your WDW resort TV will also be tuned to the DVC channel when it is turned on with information about touring. Just stop at any kiosk or call from your resort phone and they will assist with a convenient time for a tour. DVC will also provide transportation to/from any WDW resort or Theme Park to the sales center and child care is also provided during the tour. Plan on about 90 minutes - longer if you wish.

I would suggest reading as much about DVC on these boards before you go and also checking out resale pricing so you have an idea what is available before taking the tour.

Enjoy! :)

Thanks so much for the quick replies! So, we could easily do this on arrival day if we wanted? We will arrive right after lunch.

Yes and they will send a van to pick you up and drop you off when done. You may get meal vouchers as well after the tour. Have fun.

Is it possible to go see BLT (or another DVC resort) as part of the tour? I think I recall reading that they have mock-ups of some rooms at the sales center, is this true? If so, which ones?

TIA

We did the tour in July. They had a sample room of AKV and a sample of BLT. The tour is at SSR. They also have a model of the THV, but not an actual room you can walk into.

When we were there, if you booked the tour while on site, they offered you a $50 Disney gift card. Because we were staying at the Poly, they offered us $100 to go - probably do the same at other Deluxe resorts. They probably offer more to people staying at Deluxe resorts because the cost differential between DVC and a Deluxe works out favorably for DVC, so they are more likely to close the sale.

If you have time to do research before you go, I would also recommend looking at some of the more widely used resale sites.

We were staying at BLT in August - a kind of "try before you buy" experience. I signed up for the tour and was able to have my open house at BLT. (This worked well for me, the only downside was that I wasn't able to see the AKV models.)

They don't do open houses after 6PM ... at least not a BLT ... which was a bit of a letdown as I had originally wanted to take a tour duirng a "night off". They were able to schedule me in a 8:30 the next morning. (The next available time that day was around 2:00PM or something - I would imagine that it is much easier to book tours at "showroom" at SSR since most guides work from there ... only a few work out of BLT each day I think.)

We did the tour this past Saturday and we were given a $100 Disney Gift Card, we were staying at CR and reserved our tour right in the lobby there. We were told we could do it that day if we wanted to but since it would not work out well with our plans, we were able to set it up for the following day right after our Chef Mickey's breakfast. Kids had a blast at the Kids Clubhouse while DH and I talked to our guide and took the tour of AKV and BLT. Definitely take the tour....it is fun for the kids, easy, and no hassle :thumbsup2
