Does anyone know if DVC is offering any incentive to buy from them? Heading to DW next week , just curious.

Thanks
Jim

They had something going around about a $1,000 Disney gift card for this vacation but I didn't get the details.

Yep. It was up on all the kiosks this past week while we were down there. Like you, I didn't ask the details (minimums, etc.).

The $1000 gift card was for AKV...it's based on a $6.25 discount per point at the minimum for new members of 160 points. I think if you purchase more points the gift card value increases (at least it has in the past). The gift card can be applied to the down payment of 10%. I believe they were also offering a vacation...like 3 nights accomodations if you purchased 160 points and 5 nights if you purchased more than 220 points.

I believe they are also offering something similar if you purchase at BLT but the discount per point is not as high...it is $5 instead of $6.25.I purchased BLT a couple of weeks ago and recieved the $5 per point discount as a gift card that I applied towards the down payment. I also received matching developer points that I can use at SSR, DLR or trade out to II. I am sure someone else will post more details about the most current offer.

Since you are going to be at WDW, I would highly recommend taking the tour. You can arrange a time for them to pick you up and after the tour they will drop you back anywhere on Disney property...sometimes with fast passes. The tour is pressure free...they will give you an overview, show you DVC models and answer any questions and as soon as you are ready to leave they will let you...unlike some time share presentations I have attended.

We've never done the tour and I was thinking about it next week. Approx. how long does it take?

It took us about 2-2.5 hours last April to do the tour and all. The facilites are very nice and they gave us complemenary "instant fastpasses" that give you a fast pass for an attraction right away instead of having to come back later. I think they gave us one for each of the family memebers good for 3 or 4 uses. Also you get free ice cream sundays and the van takes you pretty much anywhere you want to go. We had them call to see what time AKV's Lion King show was on and they took us right there.

Hello!

We just bought a DVC last week! YAY!!! Here's what we got:

for the tour---instant fast passes and gift cards (we were there for a long time)

we got a $800 gift card (which they applied to the price b/c we pd in full on a disney visa until we get our financing straightened out)

we also got a full set of bonus points matched point for point that we have to use by next oct 3 in addition to our annual points

AND we got 75 extra points because they held a AAA presentation in our area a few weeks ago.

We bought into BLT---not because we're huge fans of it, but because the annual dues are going to be so much less there! So the upfront cost is more, but in the long run it's better!

YAY!!! :dance3: :dance3: :dance3: :dance3:

Four things:

1. Yay! Congrats!!

2. Did your guide explain that the dues are subject to change and while they should or perhaps will be lower than some other resorts, they aren't guaranteed to be?

3. What's this AAA presentation you mentioned? This is the first I've heard of it...

4. What resort are you a fan of? Just curious because you might have issues booking there at some times of the year (or for some accommodations, like a grand villa) because you won't have home resort advantage. If you are fine staying at BLT it isn't much of an issue, but if you are counting on staying elsewhere most/all the time, you might want to reconsider where you are buying your points. (You do have a 10-day "cooling off" period in which you can cancel or have them re-write your purchase, so it technically isn't too late - not that I'm suggesting you should be canceling!)

Thanks to all for the fast response. We will give it a serious look and again thanks for the help. Beth I will, I could not message you back due to not having 10 or more post's.

Thanks to All

Jim

Yes they explained the dues might be going up---but they're only $568? (i have 185 points) I can't remember the exact number right now. But I don't think they'll be able to expand any further on the Contemporary property, so there's one reason it won't go up too much---plus they built it "green" so the maintenance is less costly- plus the Contemporary hotel pays for most of the upkeep so the dues will stay lower than the traditional DVC---plus it has less units? This is what our guide said, who we LOVED!!:lovestruc

AAA in Western and Central NY teamed up with DVC and had a presentation at a local childrens museum. I don't think every area is doing this. It's based on what AAA club you are in if they are offering it. We were the first people to take advantage of it last week when we visited Saratoga.

As far as my dream place, it's Beach Club or Wilderness....but the incentives were better to buy new.......not resale.....plus I wanted the 52 years, because I'm only in my mid 20's. And, yes, I'll be that annoying old lady on Main Street USA bumping into you on my scooter because I will be there when I'm old and gray!
