DVC incentives for buying on board

The title says it all. We're considering doing an add on while on board the Magic on the 29th. What goodies should we expect if we actually pull the trigger?

I don't think anyone knows so they haven't posted. Incentives are currently changing but the shipboard incentives have historically been pretty good. I would call your Guide and get the current land based incentives and compare them against the ones offered while you are on board.

When we cruised in March, the incentives weren't any different than being offered on land but that was when they were offering a free cruise as an incentive.

We just got off the Wonder last week and the best incentives they were offering were for buying into Grand CA. I believe if you purchased 160+ points, the incentive was $28 off per pt (for current DVC members).

I don't know about current incentives, but when we bought AKV last August aboard the Magic we got $8 per point discount, 1 for 1 developer points (we bought 360, got 360 that had to be used within 2 years if used for a cruise, 1 year for anything else), and a $1000 on board ship credit which paid about half of our shore excursions, drinks, souvenirs, etc. I'm sure they will have some similar incentives on your cruise. I like the advise of the other poster, get the current incentives on land and compare to the ship board ones and get the best deal.

We bought a 100pt add on at Grand Californian on the Wonder last week.

Our incentive was a $24 per point reduction, and this increased slightly if you bought more points.

Other offers were on AKV and Saratoga Springs but the $ per point reduction was less on these. We were told these offers wouldn't be around for much longer.

No 'free offers' but at $88 per point for our perfect resort it suited us!

We purchased exactly the same add-on- $100 points at VGC with the same incentive on the Aug 8th Magic. Seemed there were lots of people buying either new memberships or add-ons as the QA person was busy coming and going with member tote bags and paperwork. I had originally only wanted 50 points but the offer wasn't as good ( needed minimum 100 points). We could've purchased a smaller add-on with good but smaller incentives for SSR or AKV but we already did an add-on at AKV and I don't care to own at SSR. There will only be 48 villas at GCV so I wanted home resort priority there.---Kathy
