Looks like the weather odds have finally caught up with us and our trip next week will mostly be in the rain. We don't care to do parks in the rain and parks are tough for DH now anyway. We are not DQ lovers. We don't enjoy driving any great distances (e.g, ocean or Cape Canaveral) in the rain. So we can do a movie. We can do a little outlet shopping. We have ADRs at a couple of nice restaurants that will make for evening enjoyment. Thankfully we will have a 1 bedroom DVC unit and not a regular hotel room. Anyone care to share rainy day ideas?

There are a few things to do around the BWV like the arcade, community hall, or the fitness center. DH and I spent a little time in the Bellevue lounge. It has checkers, scrabble, monopoly, and a few more board games. It is pleasant and has big band piped into the speakers.

You might consider putting on a poncho and resort hopping. I really get a kick out of going through the GF, POLY, CR, and WL, and you really wouldn't get that wet. Of course, if its not raining alot, you could use the same philosophy for going through the Swan, Dolphin, BW, and YC & BC.

As for the parks, Epcot would probably keep you most occupied and dry.

Good Luck!

Disney Quest is always what we do in the rain, but it gets reallllllly busy when it rains!

Usually the resorts have activities scheduled throughout the day all day long for kids and family to do, check the schedule, there should be a copy in your welcome home folder.

You can always go down and rent a bunch of movies......they are FREE

If you don't mind the rain drops, go sit in the Hot Tub in the rain is always nice, and the kids are alway up for that.

go to this website and get the directions to their warehouse - it is not too far from WDW - we go there on rainy days just for something fun - and sometimes we find something to buy and take home!

I like to do the Community Hall activities.

Ceramics, Floral, etc are great rainy day activities. Dh likes to put together puzzles, so NYE week when it was really cold, we stayed in, he put together his puzzle, the boys played video games and I soaked in my tub and watched Mary Poppins.

The SSR spa is a nice place to relax and read a magazine by the whirlpool.

We also caught a movie at AMC.

The outlets are not covered, so you still get wet going from store to store.

Thanks for the great ideas. I feel a spa day in my future and I never even heard of Mouse Surplus! I have printed directions!

Are the activities like ceramic/floral a class, at a set time? Do you do them with your kids? Did your DH get the puzzle from the Community Hall?

Hi Bobbi,

This last time we were at SSR, they had Ceramics 3 days a week at 2pm. The floral class is given at SSR and BWV. It rotates back and forth. I believe SSR's is the first and 2nd Wednesday of the month. They will give you a schedule at check in for the week and then you can get new ones at the Comm. Hall.

SSR Cm's add new puzzles for Dh because they know he never does the same one twice. We were there over the holidays and they brought out several new ones (1000 pieces) for him to choose from and a mat in case the puzzle needs to be moved:lovestruc

We've even had puzzle meets, where he'll start working on the puzzle and others will join in. One couple joined us almost every evening and we had a really great time, just talking and putting the puzzle together.

What I like about SSR's community hall is there are 2 separate areas. There is a craft area and then a game/TV area. The boys enjoy ping pong and foosball and PS2 so they stay on 1 side and we do our puzzles and crafts on the other.

And jekjones, I know what you mean about having the 1 bed when the weather is not so great. Those are the times it means the most! I think I would have felt completely different about those cold days if we had been in anything smaller. Instead, we had some great relaxing days:wizard:

We just got back from a trip with a very rainy day. We stayed in the room at first enjoying a fresh pot of coffee, and watching the rain from our patio at SSR. We then decided at the last minute to go to Animal Kingdom. It was great, and added great ambiance to the park. We loved being in a rain forest like setting. Walking around under the canopy of trees and foliage, you don't get very wet, and you actually notice more of the themed pavement footprints, and such. Only the tigers refused to come out in the rain. The Safari was that much better from all the rainfall, and puddles on the road.
