This will be our first trip as members. We are staying the last week of January. Am curious how full the DVC villas are for the end of January. (I'm so excited I'm already packed :bounce: )

We are also going the last week of Jan--the 26th to the 31st. I have never been there in January but it is my guess that things are really going to be slow. It should be about the slowest time of year. We should pretty much have things to ourselves without any waits, etc. When we finally retire my wife and I are going to spend the entire month of Jan down there. Ct is real cold in Jan. Can't wait for that. It will be a lot warmer down there than up here. It could be cold, but with any luck the temps will be in the 70's in the middle of the day. We are staying at OKW. I am really looking forward to that trip. Have fun.

Candledady --I see your from CT also-did not notice that before. It will be nice to get out of the cold at DVC. Which DVC are you staying at??

We will be there from Jan 22 - Feb 1. We LOVE it at that time of year!! We were there in Jan 2001 and the weather was PERFECT. 70's everyday, although we had one day that it was kind of misty. We even were in the pool one day!

As far as the parks, they are not TOO bad, but because they are not open as late as during peak time, it can be crowded.

We are staying at BW from the 22nd to the 25th, and then moving over to OKW for the rest of the week.

PA@OKW,
Maybe we will see you there! DH is being a drag and doesn't want to go every year. I'm going anyway ;) .

I'm bringing my two daughters for the first time. They are adults 25 and 30, so this will almost be a solo trip for me.:) I'm sure they will not want to hang out with mom when they realize I spend half the time crying (happy tears). Also, when they find out I've had Mouseketeers T-shirts made and embroidered mouse ears I'm going to make them wear to MK they won't even want to know me:)

Hello -

My husband and I are from RI and are actually going down to DVC Villas for our first time this November. We can hardly wait! We purchased 350 points this past August. It's about time - after 25 plus visits in the last ten years.

January is a great time to go but be aware bring some warm clothes too! We've been down and had low forties at night but also been when the weather was gorgeous and all you needed was shorts and tee shirts! Watch the weather channel or go online to watch the weather before you finish packing those suitcases to see what type of clothes to bring fou and yours!

Enjoy!

I always go from mid-January to mid-Feb (retired) :D , and have found that the crowds are not bad in Jan at all. The weather, like poolgirl said, can be cold. A few years ago, there was frost which killed many flowers and covered the windshields of cars. I'm from upstate NY and thought I had left the cold behind me, but I was wrong. I DID wear my winter coat and gloves, as the wind chill was in the 20's. :( But it was fun anyway. On the other hand, it can be in the 80's, so prepare for anything!

I'll also be at the BWV/BCV during this coming Jan. Can't wait! It's truly the best time of year!

You're all making me want to take a January trip! hmmmm:rolleyes:

Candlelady, you are TOO funny! I love your comment about "happy tears" and that you had t-shirts made and mouse ears embroidered! I hope your DD's get into the "magic"! It sounds like fun!

January 21st through the 31st will be our first trip home at WLV.

Hope to see you there!

January 20-25 I'll be there with a dozen family members to celebrate Dear Uncle's 80th birthday. Staying at BWV. Can't wait.

Have been in January the last several years. I bring fleece and a hat as well as shorts and T's.

Looks like we are going the same time everyone is :). We are going Jan 21 to BCV and will be there for 5 nights in the villa (requesting Epcot view) and off we are going cruisen for 4 nights. This will be the first time for us being DVC owners.

Thanks for all the info on January. Maybe I'll actually see someone with a lime green ribbon this time! Last year I thought I was the only one in WDW with a ribbon.

Minybear, looks like you will be checking out the same day we check in.

anniet, I adore the WL!! We bought less than a week after the WL sold out. I was begging them to let me buy WL! Hope to add on points there in a few years.

hoosiergirl, DH did not think it was funny when I cried all through the parks. lol. I looked like a blubbering idiot when I finally saw my tinkerbell fly.:o And Illuminations, oh my! He really doesn't 'get it' like I do.;)

MdmMim, we'll see you there then! If you see a short pretty blonde with a strange limp and a tall pretty brunette, I'll be the old one who is their mom:)

Pa@okw95, We'll be at the BVC, but you've probably figured that out by now. I will be taking a look see at OKW. It looks fabulous and laid back. I enjoy staying closer to the parks otherwise we would have considered a resale there.

poolgirl, we are driving down (I will not fly unless forced because of work) so we will have our cold weather gear if we need it. We are planning on November in 2003. Let me know how you like that time.

POLLY ANN, we'll see you there too!

Another nutmegger (and my DH) heading to OKW 1/26 to 1/31! (pa@OKW95 - did you book a flight on SWA?) We've been a couple of times in January. Prepare for cold and hope for the best. Last year all we needed was a light jacket at night. DD and some college friends are staying at BWV the second week of January and I'm hoping they get the cold weather. LOL

Last January WDW was empty, even for January, but I'm sure that was due to 9/11.

Looking forward to my trip and hope to see some of you there!

We will also be at OKW 1/26 for three nights.
January weather can be anything in Central Florida. Take both kind of clothes. But any of it should be much better than Ct.
Enjoy. I will look for the Blond DD with a slight limp.

WE love January and try to go at that time every year. DVC is often quite full, but the parks are not bad. Sometimes the weather is cool, but compared to Minnesota, it is absolutely balmy!!;)

We have had temps below freezing sometimes and temps in the upper 90's, so be prepared for ANYTHING! We RARELY get rain that time of year though, so that helps. Yes, the parks have shorter hours and some attractions will be closed, but it is not the same things every year, so it averages out. We find they often run the night parade at least once in our 10 day stay, so we are satisfied.

We will be at OKW from JAn. 7-17 2003.
