I've been noticing a lot more inventory available through II. What do you all think.... Is it because short stays are now available(DVC bundling to make weeks available). DVC depositing inventory they own (like other timeshares to get people in the door). Or maybe just more people are trading out.

Just curious what others thoughts are.

I've noticed more showing up lately too but thought it was just me. It used to be only studios but there seems to be bigger units out there recently. We exchanged into OKW for July just last week into a 1 bedroom. DH refuses to go into a studio.

I'm anxious to see if it continues.

Yesterday there was a 2BR VWL in late August. Oh I wanted it, but knew there was no way I could go then.

Perhaps it is people using their developers points, so naturally more DVC trades are available.

Wow! I don't think I have ever seen a 2 bedroom let alone at VWL. I wouldn't be able to go either although the tempation would have been enormous!!

That's a possibility that I hadn't thought of. There are a lot of folks out there with developer points right now. I just wondered if owners were getting braver at giving II a try.

II (Interval International) is a timeshare trading company. The same one DVC uses. If you own a timeshare that trades through them and are a member, you can search for resorts to exchange into. Last week, we traded our Marriott week for a week at OKW this summer. DVC is a tough trade to get - not impossible- but tough because most DVC'ers use their points at DVC.

So, I would have to go onto II website & be a member of II before I could see what was available to trade into? (I own DVC & wanted to look to see if there was anything at II available for next year right now) Thanks, Deb

I'm not sure if you would access it thru II or thru the DVC website. My contract is still in ROFR so I am not sure how a DVC member would do it. We have to reserve a unit at our home resort in order to search for availability.

Maybe someone else who already owns will chime in and help with that.

Right. You would have to have an individual II account and a qualified week from another resort against which to run searches.

DVC always seems to deposit in batches and this is a time of the year when more units have shown up the last 3-4 years at least. Not all at once like Westin or some others, but there are time of the year when every day there are another 8-10 units that show up. DVC doesn't do developer spec deposits. If there are more units it's because more DVC points are being given up for exchanges, the short notice exchanges just started so it's too early for that to be related. DVC could also give up more but smaller units if they wanted and my info suggests they often approach it this way. I also suspect the exchange rate is up a little above the 3% range last year, we'll see in a couple of months. Given that any unit that shows up online means now one was looking for that unit, even a small increase in the exchange rate will result in more visible units.

Yep, it is Spring, when Man's Heart turns to thoughts of Vacation... ;)
