I don't have a mind for math but I like to understand things. Can someone explain to me how Disney figures the amount of points available at a DVC? Maybe if I can understand how 1 room can be broken down into available points/owners I can then figure out the big picture....:3dglasses (in exchange I can share a list of prepositions I have burned into my memory since High School)....different people different skills).

Basically, take the point charts and add all the points up for all units for a one year stay. That should give you the total points available at the resort. Remember that Disney retains a small percentage for maintenance, plus they rent for cash any points that a member uses to trade outside of DVC to any venue except Interval International, along with any unsold points for that resort and rooms that may go unreserved by DVC members at 6 days out.

For instance, take all the points it would take to stay in a studio for one year, times the number of studios at that resort. Do the same for each room size, figuring only the Dedicated 2 Bedrooms into that total, then add those all up and you have the total points available at the resort.

As Chuck said, it's the number of points to book all the rooms for a specified time of the year, usually 51 weeks or so. It assumes that all units are booked for every day otherwise and that all lockoff's are booked as a single unit.
