Just a simple little poll:
I recently returned from a stay at BCV's.....
I was very disapointed in housekeeping....
Spider webs around the light fixtures in the bathroom....
Hairs all over the bathroom floor......
The corners of the room, and (under) sink area was filthy....
This is a new resort.....
I then starting noticing other areas of the room.... Lint on the carpet areas.....they just seemed to vacuum the center of the room.......
Just wanted to know if anyone else is noticing this??? This can include any DVC resort?
REALLY....I'm not picky......I was just disapointed.....

I too think that housekeeping is one thing that can be improved upon. I thought my first visit to VWL was a fluke, but my second stay proved otherwise. Don't get me wrong, my room was not bad, but I would not consider it up to Disney standards. The biggest thing seems to be that they forget to vacuum the carpet. Perhaps it is still possible that my housekeeper had 'a couple' of off days.

Interestingly, my room was immaculate for both my stays at VB.

Perhaps, and this is a guess only, housekeepers are under the wrong impression that we as DVC owners should not care as much as a regular hotel guest would? After all, we bought in knowing that housekeeping was not a regular occurrence; plus we have our own vacs, lol.

Just a thought. I haven't stayed at BCV yet (coming up!), but my one visit to VWL seemed fine. I don't expect perfection by any means. I'm easy (so to speak!). ;)

We are supposed to get the same housekeeping as all guests when rooms are changed over and on the eighth day of a continuous stay. If it is not done, we should call and ask them to have it corrected.

T&T is the 4-day "lite service", so it is hard to judge quality for changing towels and taking out the trash.

Our experience with DVC housekeeping has been consistent with other Disney resorts -- first rate.

Unfortunately our experiences with housekeeping at the DVC resorts have been anything but first rate! The first visit there was no toilet paper, the refrigerator had been turned off with no notification anywhere, there was toothpaste smeared all over the bathroom door, blood on the wallpaper and the floor had not seen a vacuum. We moved to another DVC resort and there was poop on the bathroom door. No I didn't get it analyzed as someone actually suggested but I think I know what I cleaned up and that is just gross! Those were our summer experiences.

We gave it another try last month at the BCV. Although this was much cleaner than the above we still experienced the following:

the microwave was never wiped out and was filthy
there was candy all over the balcony along with a homemade ashtry with butts in it (THIS WAS A NON-SMOKING UNIT)
the bathroom floor was full of hair
there was a DIRTY child's sock in the master bed. No it wasn't ours and YES it was DIRTY!
Makes you think that the bed was never changed doesn't it?

We have stayed at other deluxe Disney resorts and have NEVER experienced this filth. Makes you wonder why it is happening at only DVC resorts? Perhaps because they already have our $ up front?

I have gotten flamed/questioned in the past from other DVC posters regarding what our experiences have been. I guess some people are just more fortunate with their experiences or are more laid back about cleanliness. I just find it unacceptable if there are any unclean situations. I don't mind cleaning up after my own family but cleaning up when I first get there is UNACCEPTABLE EVERY TIME! I don't even want the housekeepers back in there on T&T day so at least for that day I am cutting back on their work. But the least they can do is have it clean the first day. I don't think that is too much to ask for!!!

The first year that we stayed at a DVC resort was in 97 at OKW. The cleanliness of the room was not up to my standards and the room needed quite a few repairs. But every stay since has been great. Rooms were all clean and the only thing that I had to call about was a couple burned out lightbulbs. I'm hoping that housekepping standards have not gone down in the last year. I guess that we will find out in 6 weeks when we are at BCV.

This could have a direct relationship to WHICH DVC resort you stay at most. We have always had GREAT housekeeping at OKW.

See my post above, lol. I really think SOME of the housekeepers just think that DVC people will do it ourselves since we have the vacs to do it, lol.

If it happens when I'm there, I won't be happy. I will complain. Crossing fingers my room is up to par for my next trip, lol.

I had big problems with housekeeping at the BCV in Feb. The thing that really concerned me is that during my stay, I was in 3 different rooms--each was dirty; each had different housekeepers, according to the housekeeping manager.

A few of my problems:
1 bedroom: not vacuumed, dirty toilet, dirty mirrors and vanities, hair in the bathroom areas, dirty kitchen counter, dirty tables. Oh! And a nice dried-up roast in the oven.

Studio #1-not vacuumed, dirty glasses on vanity.

Studio #2-walked in and stepped on pistachio shells, dirty glasses, dirty counter.

The manager's assistant came to my 1-bedroom to take care of the problems. I showed her what was wrong, told her I was leaving for awhile--she told me to stay for a few minutes so I could tell the maid what was wrong.

I have no confidence in the housekeeping staff there at all. I asked the manager if housekeeping now meant "change the sheets and towels--throw out some Mickey soaps, and shut the door." She admitted she was embarassed by the situation.

Between the lack of housekeeping, and the lack of a thermostat that can be controlled, I'm considering selling my points and adding on elsewhere.

A ROAST in the oven?

That's crazy! I understand spots on the mirror, a few hairs on the floor, but a ROAST in the oven?

I'm convinced I'm right about housekeeping now ! (see above posts, lol)

I just feel that the housekeepers don't give as much care to the DVC units. We also stayed at the YC this last stay and the room was very clean and everything was in place. BCV and the YC use the same housekeepers.....

What is the name/address of the lady we can speak to regarding this? I have not had the time up until now but I would like her to know what happened on our last visit and the visit before. I contacted the executive office for our last visit and received the song/dance that this is totally not up to Disney standards and a fluke as this never ever happens and has never been reported. Never reported? Maybe? Never happens, HUH! What a laugh!! They NEED to correct this or we will definately sell. I love the Disney parks, the magic, the thought put behind the scenes to make the shows interesting and entertaining, etc. but what I will NOT put up with is a dirty room. We will take our business and $ elsewhere!

Thanks for the information in advance.

I just got back from a week at OKW and our room was spotless. I got in early (8am) to a room they said was "ready" but because of the early admit I was concerned the room might not really BE ready. All that was missing was the kitchen sponge, which they brought me, along with bedrails for the high altitude beds!

The appliances were spotless. Maybe they were new? The baths were really clean and even the verandah -- with white rails -- was clean. I snooped purposely to report back here. The place really was lovely. This was my parents' first trip "home" and they were SO impressed. The only dirt I spotted AT ALL was a little dust in the corners of the rooms where it is hard to reach the vacuum.

The housekeepers did a great job cleaning the room on our 4th day. I thought we were scheduled for trash and towel but it was actually a full cleaning. They made up the rooms nicely and we got some fancy-folded towels in the bathrooms. All the Mickey soaps were refilled. I took the trash out between cleanings and we washed our towels ourselves.

We had a great trip and I would recommend #5512 to anyone. Beautiful, nonsmoking 2-bedroom with a great view of the canal.

We had our first visit home this past Oct. at BCV. We loved everything with one exception, when we uncovered our bed that first night we found lipstick on one of the pillow cases, a brown smudge and a big black streak mark on the sheets. I called down to the front desk and they quickly sent someone up with new sheets. I was assured that the sheets were clean but that housekeeping must have forgotten to use bleach on them. Either way it was a gross feeling.
