DVC Hawaii

We just returned back from our family vacation at Disney World in Florida.

While we were there we purchased a DVC package of 410 points in Hawaii. The resort will not even open until 8/29, but we were told it is most definitely sold out for this year.

We are extremely new to the world of vacation clubs and we're not sure just how it works. I'm grateful for this site, it has helped tremendously!!

One thing I'm still not sure of is, can we still purchase the meal plan card (deluxe or otherwise) AND can we still purchase park hopper passes?

Do they discount them and if so, how much?

Thanks in advance for any help you may be able to provide.

:)

DREAMING, ARE ALL 410 PTS IN 1 CONTRACT, if so I would call your guide and have it broken down into smaller contract in case you need to sell some pts but want to keep some too. Contracts can not be split once bought. I myself would get 4 contracts with ( 2 with 100 and 2 with 105 pts) You can do any size just don't do 410 they will be hard to sell later.:goodvibes You can do 2 ,3,4, contracts if you want.

I agree that you tell your guide this contract depends on if you can get a ressie this yr, you'll be supprised what they can do.

Welcome Home! I purchased 210 points (three 70 point contracts; Feb use year) in April and my 2011 points were there 2 days later! Not planning to go until next year, so didn't ask about a reservation at the time of purchase.

I also agree with breaking up the contract into multiple contracts...I only paid $72.60/contract in closing costs and my annual maintenence is prorated for the 4 months it will be open this year...I'll get billed in September for those I think.

If you use points to go, you can definitely purchase any dining plan you want, but I think you have to buy it in full up front now...you used to be able to add it to your reservation up to a couple of days before arrival and you could pay for it on check-in.

Congratulations and keep after your guide to get that room for you...you bought a huge number of points and that does count for something...don't sign anything until she gets a cash room for you...there is always some cash inventory available that is not part of the condo association inventory.

Again, WELCOME HOME fellow Aulanian! :cool1:

It seems from your other thread that you purchased a March UY. If this is the case, you will not have any points to use until March 2012. Aulani opens on Aug 31 2011, so there are no March 2011 points. You might be able to borrrow from your 2012 UY if you can find an open reservation prior to March.

Hi Slum808,

No, I got lucky. I received March 2011 points (410) as an incentive and I will also receive additional points in March 2012.

I have not received my final paperwork yet so I can not reserve anything. Also, even if I had my paperwork, just like the other member posted, I also have to wait until the club opens in August.

Hey Thanks for all the responses! This is such a cool board. I will read a little more about dividing my points into smaller contracts. That may not be a bad idea.

Again, thanks so much!
:)

We have lots of points at BWV, SSR, BLT and DWL. Really had no interest in Hawaii. However, we did stop and chat with Gib, out Disney Vacation Guy since 1997.:) He told us that if we would like to see Disney hawaii, we should try and use our DVC points at the 7 month window. He explained to us that those buying in Aluaini (sp) could call in August to book, but at an 11 month window, i.e. can't stay there until July?.....so if we wanted to see Hawaii, we should book asap. We did....3 nights in a standard studio (I got the next to the last one left) and 7 nights in a one bedroom ocean view........whooohooo!!%$^#@:) :) :) He more or less said that once the DVC owners could make ressies our chances for our choice rooms would be hard to come by. He has never steered us wrong. I never thought I would ever see Hawaii. Cheap airfare too, using coupons we got from being bumped from our previous WDW flight.:santa:

You don't need to wait until you receive your paperwork to book your first reservation, once DVC receives your deposit you get put into their system and can make a reservation before all the paperwork is completed. The way DVC looks at it, if you don't close on your contract they just cancel your reservation. You also don't have to wait until the resort opens to book your reservation, just the dates you want to go have to be after the resort opens. What time frame are you looking to reserve?
