DVC has no mousekeeping?

I just saw a post on another board that mentioned that DVC doesn't have mousekeeping - or daily mousekeeping. If that's the case, how often do they come then? How does it work with towels then? I'm sorry to ask such a goofy question... thanks though!!

For stays of 7 nights or less you will get trash & towel service on day 4.

For stays of 8 or more nights you will get full cleaning on day 4 AND trash & towel on day 8.

You can opt for daily cleaning - at a price of course - fees depend on size of unit.

When we first became members I though it was weird but it's no big deal at all. We've actually come to like not worrying about people being in & out of our room or trying to guess what time mousekeeping will be done so we can nap or change for pool.

Housekeeping is available for a fee, $25 for a Studio, $35 for a 1 bedroom, $45 for a 2 bedroom and $60 for a GV per cleaning.

Extra towel packs (4 each, bath, hand & washcloths) are $6. Additional Trash and Towel service is $10.

If you stay at a DVC resort 7 nights or less, you will get fresh towels on day 4 (day 1 is check-in day). If you stay 8 or more nights, you'll get a full housekeeping on Day 4, with trash and towel on day 8.

Most DVC members prefer not being "bothered" with the housekeepers on a daily basis. Also if you are staying in a 1 bedroom or larger unit, you can use the washer/dryer to do your own towels.

They come in do trash and towel service on the fourth day of your stay, then a full cleaning of the room on the seventh(?) day i think...with the process starting over again for longer stays. You can also purchase towels daily for a set rate...or have the room cleaned everyday for a set fee also.

Please refer to the two previous posts for a far better explanation than mine :teeth:

Hey there Epcot! Mousekeeping comes on your 4th day of , I think a 7day stay. There are W/D in the 1bdrms which makes it especially handy. We got back last week. While @ SSR, I did a small load nightly and took the trash out in the mornings before leaving. It's not so bad. Just like home. You can get daily mousekeeping but again, I think there's a charge for that.

It was explained to us that this helps keep cost down thru DVC not doing daily housekeeping. Hope this helps, there's probably a bunch of folks who can offer you more info~

Welcome Home!~

ITA with preferring not to have daily Mousekeeping; it's nice not to come back from a long hot morning at the parks and see a cart at your door. I wish that some of our Las Vegas hotels offered the same option. (Yeah, I know we can ask, but quite often we get funny looks....)

I've been a DVC member 6 1/2 years and it's never been a problem, although I always stay in a 1 bedroom.

DVC has housekeeping, it's just not "included". If you want it, you pay for it. If you don't want it, you don't pay. I'm sure the cost of housekeeping is included in the room rate when you book through CRO, you pay whether you want to or not.

I never thought I'd say it either, but I prefer not to have mousekeeping also. I can't tell you how many times I would come back from the pool mid-day or something and have to wait for the housekeepers to finish up in our room. Once I couldn't wait anymore and had to change my son's diaper while they were in the room, LOL.

I now cancel housekeeping even on my 4th day (normal housekeeping day).

Actually, few timeshares have daily maid service. Count us among those who enjoy not having to worry about the housekeeper coming, going, or being there. We hang our towels and reuse them, just like at home, we make the bed as soon as we get out of it, just like at home.... This is, after all, "home away from home" resort, and we treat it as our home. The in room laundry is so easy for doing towels if you need to, and we tend to pack far less clothes, since we end up doing a load at least everyother day.

Thanks for all of the replies! Now, the $25 charge for the studio, is that applied per night or the whole trip? Can I do this when renting points?
I must say, it sounds like it's almost better to not have them come every day, so it might not be that bad. Thanks again guys!\

It's per day requested. You may want to consider the $10 trash & towel. You get new towels (and the old ones taken away), trash taken out, soaps replaced.

We prefer nt having pope the room due to the W/D. The studio is the exception. I'd get a few extra towels and use the W/D either in the room or by the pool if in a studio.

I also prefer not to have mousekeeping.

Me too. Mousekeeping always drove me crazy before DVC because we'd leave our room at 8 AM and come back at 2 PM and the room would not even be touched yet. I really like not having to worry about mousekeeping.

I prefer not havng the mousekeeping. It is nice to just come and go as you please. As for towels, we just throw them in the wash when staying in a 1BR and we often throw a load in when using the pool if we are in a studio.

I'm another one that never thought I'd say that I prefer not to have daily mousekeeping. And I'm so upset at myself because this was one big reason we delayed buying DVC so long. A few years after we joined, I stayed at a regular hotel in another city and had enjoyed the lack of maid service so much, I said "Don't come into my room-just give me clean towels inside the door." Well, from the looks on their faces, I'll bet they came in anyways-just to make sure there wasn't anything illegal in there! I love knowing no one else is coming into my room.

I also delayed buying DVC because I thought I had to have daily mousekeeping. Not anymore! I stayed two nights with maidservice a week ago, and could have cheerfully murdered the maid who knocked on my door at 8 am to see if she could clean then. :furious: I am NOT a morning person--not a problem once we moved to points, and didn't need to feel embarassed when kids left their suits on the floor(or worse). :scared1: I NEVER thought I would say that I prefer not having mousekeeping! ;)

Day 4 is trash & towel. Day 8 is a full mousekeeping.

BTW, Day 1 is your check-in day, so if you checked in on a Sunday, Day 1 is Sunday, Day 2 is Monday, Day 3 is Tuesday, Day 4 is Wednesday and so on.

Other way around.

If you stay 7 nights or less, you get Trash & Towels on Day 4.

If you stay 8 nights or more, you get Full Cleaning on Day 4, T&T on Day 8, FC on Day 12, etc.
