ok so in 2010 i bought a resale and about 2 months after i closed i got a call from a guy named andy he introduced himself as my guide for DVC i was confused and he mentioned about if i wanted to add on i was like DUDE really i just spent 10k and i am not buying more at your prices. fast forward 2 years after i used it i realized i needed more lol. so doing my homework i added 2 30 pointers VWL and BWV. mainly getting on the lists before the first round of major price increases. i got 2 difference places as i learned again foolish bc i cant really use a 11 month window with a 30 pointer. now dealing with him back then he was really on top of communication before i gave him my CC and after that it went down the wayside. so again this year family getting bigger time to add more points did the same thing tried to find a resale for a 30ish pointer and had no real shot of getting on with out calling very day or what not. So i emailed my guide to get the process started i was actually shocked prices were up to 145 for classic resorts i guess it makes sense so they can sell out the new ones but the info and guidance from my guide we garbage this time. i know they are just sales men and probably get paid a few % points on the sale so my 4000 purchase does not mean much. i had already booked my 2015 vacation so i got my 2014 30 points i need to reallocate them he was like yeah i will call you and we will call member services and handle it so guess what i never heard from him after he took my CC again. so i handled it myself no biggie but just annoyed. Just super disappointment with my last experience wondering if anyone else has the same thoughts. I did get a sweet canvas bag with my purchase hahahaha in the fedex box.

"guides" are really just salespeople trying to make money for themselves - some are pretty honest but you have to know better than to rely on them.

there have been numerous posts on this forum explaining that you can never use non-home-resort pts at 11 months out under any circumstances. the DIS is a much better place to learn about DVC than from the "guides."

(also, paragraphs are a very helpful way to make your thoughts more readable.)

You got a DVC canvas bag? Most guides save them for new direct buyers.

Guides are sales and MS CM's are the ones who work with the members. I wouldn't say your guide was any different than most other than he should have just directed you to call MS in the first place.

If the smaller contracts end up not working out for you, you could sell them at a premium and buy a regular sized contract resale for likely no real loss.

We also received one with our add-on. It's Smaller and more feminine than our older ones.

I must say we've been thrilled with our guide. He even called us to let us know our points had just loaded :) he's been there since at least 2007 when we first bought in; I will be sad if he goes.
