Can anyone tell me what the 2010 rates are for dvc annual golf members for the month of May? I know that it was $39 a round after 10:00am for May 2009, but I can not find 2010 rates anywhere.

All has changed. It is now 25% off the Disney Resort Guest rate before 10 am and 40% after 10 am year round and you can call 90 days out year round.

Current Disney Resort Guest rate through May 16 is $139 for a round during the week and $149 for Sat and Sun.

Rates for after May 16 (when Disney's lower summer rates begin) have not been announced yet.

Note that if you are going before May 16, and your desire is to play before 10 am, you can instead purchase a two round pass (through Disney that has nothing to do with DVC) for $195 plus tax which, if you are going to do two rounds, is cheaper than the DVC discount for pre-10 am

I'm afraid that the price is off the Disney day vistor rate, not the resort rate. I just came from making 4 golf reservations for April this morning. It was around $104 before 10:00am during the week. However, I remember that the prices went down after May 15 or so, and also 40% off the day visitor rate after 10:00am. It's only 25% off the day visitor rate before 10:00. If you click the DVC golf membership button, they don't care whether you're on or off-site (I tried to click the resort button, but it wouldn't let me). BIG jump in price from last year. At 2 weeks out, I'm going to try to switch over to AP rates, which I'm pretty sure are cheaper before 10:00 am.

Quick question, we are currently renting a DVC for Spring Break, would be eligible for the DVC discount on a round of golf?

Thanks in advance.

In order to be eligible for the DVC discount, you have to buy the yearly DVC golf membership card, which costs about $50. It isn't just "If you're a member, then you get a discount" (at least it didn't used to be that way-I'd love to see it change). And I think you have to show your DVC card in order to buy the golf membership card. But if it's different now, please let me know. DH would love to be able to get the DVC discount without having to spend another $50/year on the card.

Are the rates out for after May 16th yet? We bought the card last year and were so dissapointed with the changes! We'll be going back in June - hopefully it'll be a lot cheaper than the current rates.

I just booked for the end of May, rates are $59.40 for Sat and Sun and $53.40 for weekdays after 10am.
It is 25% off before 10am & 40% off after 10am of the " non discounted resort guest rate "

I will probably begin spreading my golfing dollars around the Orlando area more in the future.

No, the non discounted resort rates are $99 weekends and $89 weekdays, beginning May 16 thru sometime in Sept

That is so expensive :scared1: It really frustrates me that right after we finally decide to buy the DVC discount card, they do this! We won't be buying another card and also will be checking out the courses in the area. Maybe if many people do this, they'll bring back the former rates.

ETA - do you know what the AP rates are?

AP discount, which is 30% not 25%, is off the day guest rate (the rate that applies to those not staying at a WDW resort), The AP disocunt applies to any time of day. The DVC 25% discount for pre-10 am times is better than the AP discount because it is off the lower resort guest rate (the one that applies to those staying on site).

As to question above from renter of DVC, you cannot get the discount. You need to buy the annual DVC golf card for $50 plus tax to get it and the only ones who can buy that are persons who can show a DVC Member card to the person at the pro shop when they purchase the annual card.

I'm also interested in if you can get this DVC discount without purchasing the $50 membership card. I think DH's membership runs out during our stay this April, but we are also leaning toward buying AP's this year. I'm wondering if we shouldn't renew, especially if we can get the discount w/out the card. If we do get Ap's I may have to try and get him to wait to play after 10am this year.:) )

There is no distinction on discount for pre-10 or after 10 rounds with the AP. It is 30% regardless of time of day. You cannot get a DVC discount without buying the annual golf card. To understand difference in the discount rates, here is what you would pay between now and mid-May (part of the highest cost season of the year) for a round of golf at any of the four 18-hole courses:

Weekday/Weekend regular rates: For "Resort Guests" (those staying on site) $139/$149; for "Day Guests" (those staying off-site) $164/$174.

DVC rate with 25% pre-10/40% post 10 am discount which is off the "Resort Guest" rate: $104.25/$83.40 weekday and $111.75/$89.40 weekend

AP rate which is 30% off the "Day Guest" rate any time of day: $114.80 weekday and $121.80 weekend.

With DVC discount you can make tee times up to 90 days in advance all year long, with AP you can reserve up to 14 days in advance.

BOTTOM LINE - (cause all the numbers and discounts are making my head spin and I can't figure it out! :confused3 )

Which one is the better deal? We are new DVC owners and we'll going down on May 16th. We will also be buying AP's when we get there. So, is it "worth" it for DH to buy the DVC golf membership?

He'd prefer to play BEFORE 10 am - but is not completely opposed to playing after. I'm just wondering which one is the better deal........... or if buying the DVC one is really not worth it IF you have an AP?

Thanks - :goodvibes

May 16 is the last date of the high season, May 17 begins Disney's lowest cost season. Mentioned above is that those who have called have been informed the post May 16 Resort Guest rates will be $89 weekday and $99 weekend, making the DVC rate weekday $66.75/$53.40 pre/post 10 am and weekend $74.25/$59.40 pre/post 10 am. The problem is Disney has not actually published its new rates on its site yet so unless you call to get Day Guest rates for that period you cannot figure out the AP rate which is a 30% discount off the Day Guerst rate. However, the DVC after 10 rate will definitely be better. I also believe the DVC before 10 rate will likely be a little better,

Nevertheless in deciding what to actually do depends on doing the math. For example, how many times are you actually going to golf when you go and will you return and golf again within a year (the DVC golf card is good for a year)? If you are only going to golf a few times, not return for year, and golf only before 10 am then the AP rate is likely going to be better because it does not require you to buy an additonal golf card for $50 the cost of which you have to make up in DVC discounts to justify doing DVC.

Another thing you need to look at is Disney's discounted 2 round rate (which has nothing to do with DVC or AP). You can buy a 2 round card for when you are there and then golf any 2 days (and you can buy as many two round cards as you want while there) . If you are going to golf before 10 am, that discount may be better than either DVC or AP particularly if you are only going to do 2 or 4 rounds. For example right now and up to May 16, the two round Disney price is $195, meaning $97.50 per round and for pre-10 am times that is less than both the AP and DVC discounted rate. The cost of that card will be much less come May 17 and may be close to the DVC rate for pre-10 am rounds (meaning it will be better even it is a few dollars more because you do not have to buy the DVC golf card).

In other words, it unfortunately takes doing some homework to figure it all out for whenever you go.
