DVC free upgrades

Is it possible to ever get a free upgrade at these if you just ask? We are in a studio but it appears that so far SSR is going to be open in May for bigger rooms. What do you guys think?

Nope, you get what you reserved on points. Unless the room you reserved on points is not available because of a maintenance issue. Then they will try to put you somewhere comparable.

DVC doesn't upgrade.

The only way an upgrade could happen is if a room has to go out of service for some reason and there are no more of that equivalent room available.

If you reserved a Studio, that's what you'll get.

If you are using DVC points for the reservation (owner or renting), you will not get an upgrade. The only instances where upgrades occur are when maintenance issues leave the resort with no other accommodations available.

If a resort has 200 studios, 200 studio reservations and one room ends up uninhabitable due to a maintenance problem, one guest will be moved or upgraded.

Those situations are very, very rare.

If it's a cash reservation booked through CRO (website, travel agent, etc.), then there is a chance. But upgrades to timeshare members simply do not occur. It would create a dangerous precedent when you give one owner greater value for his/her points than another. The resorts will just let the rooms sit empty if no last-minute reservations materialize.
