DVC Free Internet

In the last vacation magic book that we had just before Xmas was there an article in there about the free internet for DVC members from 2008? If there was did this state that the free internet will start in 2008 or does it specifiy spring. We are staying in Wilderness Lodge and they have no knowledge of this and if we can supply any evidence of it starting in 2008 we can it for free.

You can download pdf copies of Vacation Magic (new name Disney Files) on the DVC Member website. I just glanced through the Winter 2007 issue and didn't see anything, but I may have missed it, it is 32 pages and many photos, so it over 10 Mb. ANd becaus eit is so large, it scrolls pretty slowly in Adobe Acrobat.

Daily Internet charge to be discontinued this spring
Based on Member feedback, the daily charge for wired high-speed Internet access for Members staying at Disney Vacation Club Resorts at the Walt Disney World® Resort is slated to be discontinued once system enhancements are in place this spring. Guests renting Disney Vacation Club accommodations will continue to pay the daily rate for access, and high-speed Internet access charges still apply to Members staying at non-Disney Vacation Club Resorts.

In related news, plans call for wireless service debut inside vacation homes at Disney's Vero Beach Resort and Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort sometime this year. Look for updates on this Web site as new details become available.

It was announced at the annual meeting. There is not free internet service yet. It is coming in "spring," with no specific date announced yet.

D'oh! I was on the Vacation Club news page yesterday and didn't scroll all the way down.

As of 2/4/08, it is not in place. I went down and asked at Guest Services at WLV and she told me it has not started yet. Oh well, maybe next trip.

Nothing at BCV on 4/21/08. However if you see a convention group, ask one of them if they would share what the internet code assigned to that group. They get it free. Then go to the lobby and use it free wireless. Otherwise pay through the nose.

I just checked into VWL last night and to log on this morning, I had to pay a fee. I wonder if they remove it from the bill at checkout.

If I am renting a DVC points, and staying at SSR, do you think I will get the internet for free. I mean, give me a break - even Holiday Inn has wireless and lets you use the internet for free!

We were at VWL Oct. 2 to 7 and although you agree to a charge when you go online it never appears on your bill. If you think about it the way they do it is simpler for them since only the billing system needs to know who gets free internet.

I just got back from BWV points stay and had to accept the fee each day. It did not appear on my bill. If it does, they will remove it. There should have been a disclaimer on the screen saying DVC members do not pay.

How much is is per day to use?

Techically, free internet is for members only. But there have been reports saying that renters have not charged. Free internet varies by hotel chain. I stay at Hilton & Marriott often and they charge $9.95 per day. Disney charges $9.95 per 24 hour period.

Wired internet is free for Guests staying at a DVC Resort on points. If your room key reads "DVC Member" you will not be charged. Check your room bill before check out. Removing the internet fee is a manual transaction that is sometimes missed.
