This is my first trip home during the holiday season, and I was wondering what (or if) you guys do to decorate your villa? I thought I remembered reading last year that some people hang lights and of course the Disney christmas trees are nice. I thought about getting some simple lights and putting them up. Is this allowed?

Thanks!

We bought a cheap 5' artifical tree ($15 at Target) that came in a rectangular box for easy transportation. Once at WDW, we had a traditional family decorate the tree evening. I had thrown a few non-breakable ornaments in a bag with some lights and Christmas music CDs and then we enjoyed shopping for a special ornaments for each family member while in the parks.

When not at WDW for the holdiays, we'll set this tree up in our second front window at home so we'll have more lights that can be seen from the street as well as having more tree room for hanging all those Disney ornaments. ;)

We are at OKW every December and hang outside Christmas lights on our balcony. I just love it and we often see many others that do the same thing. It certainly helps to keep everyone in the Holiday mood.

I have a small fiber optic Christmas tree that I kept in its box and I could ship that down to the resort early and it could be waiting for us! Then I can pack some small ornaments to bring, and some to buy while we're there.

Great idea! I am also thinking about getting some Disney stocking, one for each of the people in our party (not that they're on sale).

We went nuts, but then what would you expect from the loonies who publish BadShoe.com?

We did a little after Christmas shopping the year before our trip. We got a tree and a bunch of lights - We has lights on the balcony, lights over our door in the hall and a tree in the room. When we left we gave it all to some of the Mousekeeping folks who had stopped by one day to say they thought it looked nice.

We took down frozen cookie dough and made christmas cookies for the CMs in the BWV Community Hall, Front Desk and Bell Services. (OK I admit it we do PR a.k.a. suckup).

Hey you going to the happies place on earth right? Do it up big time!

Ducky4Disney, can you give me some info as to how and when you ship your tree to your resort? I read your post and think thats a great idea. How many days before arrival do you ship it and do you call the resort to tell them its on the way? Thanks.

We'll be splitting a trip... BCV and VWL. If we want to put lights on the balcony, will we need an extension cord? Is there an outlet outside or will I need to run it through the door?

Here's a thread for sharing a tree during the holidays. Basically, someone brings the tree with them or ships it to the first person. It is them passed along from family to family until the last person ships it back to the owner. It looks like a lot of fun!
